After the events on the roof in Vegas, Shane finds himself wandering the streets and ends up at a bar where he later becomes the victim of sexual assault.
"Something is wrong with Shane Hollander.
He no longer returns Ilya’s texts, not even to tell him to fuck off. Over the summer, Ilya thinks this is about Vegas. Thinks maybe he somehow pushed Hollander too far that night. The look on Shane’s face was anger, but Ilya had seen the terror below it too. He understood that terror.
It’s the pre-season when Ilya realizes something else is going on. The charming, bright-eyed golden boy is no longer present in interviews. Hollander answers questions like he’s a wooden man reading from a book. No fire, no passion, no personality, no smile. He is a dense brick. The light of him has gone out and Ilya clocks is immediately."
This will follow Shane's path of recovery from unimaginable violence through his eyes, Ilya's eyes, and those of close friends and family.

Summary
Shane Hollander was a strong man. Throughout his childhood, he was constantly portrayed as a role model to others. By his coaches, teachers, his parents and even his peers' parents. It’s not that he minded it, not at all. To be honest, Shane loved that people saw him as this idol, of sorts. However being a so called ‘role model’ comes with a lot of pressure. Pressure to constantly be doing things to perfection. Pressure to never be caught in a compromising situation. Pressure to always be the best. That was the part he hated the most.

Summary
Luca, his face the color of a ripe tomato, leaned in with agonizing slowness. Troy held up his phone, showing Shane sandwiched between them before leaning in and planting a loud, dramatic smack on Shane’s right cheek. At the same time Luca placed a soft, fleeting kiss on Shane’s left cheek.
Shane burst out laughing just as the camera clicked their picture, the last of the tension dissolving.
“Perfect!” Troy looked at his phone with a wide, and in Luca’s opinion, a very evil smile, and sent the picture to the team group chat.
Ilya: BARRETT WTF WHY ARE YOUR LIPS ON MY BOYFRIEND
Harris: WHY DID YOU GET TO KISS HIM BEFORE ME?! I HAVE SENIORITY!
