    Maester Aemon still has his sight when Jon Snow arrives at Castle Black to swear his vows. Targaryen’s might have typically had pale hair and purple eyes, but Maester Aemon would recognise his family anywhere.

    His vows have been tested three times before. This is his fourth and final test and, after nearly eighty years of being a bystander at the Wall whilst his family destroyed themselves, Aemon decides that enough is enough. He’s been a man of the Nights Watch for most of his life; but he’s been a Targaryen all his life.

    He might be old and trapped at the Wall, but he grew up in Kings Landing and no one knows the Game of Thrones like he does.

    And so, everything changes.

    Well written Fic.
    The plot is extensively AU, and throroughly enjoyable.
    Viserys has a realistic redemption arc. Maester Aemon gets to teach Jon how to rule. The dragons grew fast with the help of magic from the Neck and fought fiercely in battle. Lady Olena was smart and didn’t betray anyone. The Lannisters died. The Baratheon survived.

    Following the Defiance of Duskendale, the Mad King has a very different “reward” for his savior than allowing Ser Barristan to spare Dontos Hollard. While not considered a reward by Barristan, the events that follow cause an incredible change in Jaime’s life. He is brought to the city to squire for Barristan the Bold and train with the rest of the Kingsguard. The presence of Genna and Jaime in the city have a greater impact than the king imagined, and House Targaryen turns on itself with House Lannister caught in the middle.

    Excellent Fic. The AU plot is off the chart, everything changed!
    The story arcs for Barristan and Jaime were just epic. Tywin and Cersei got the ending they deserved. Genna proved that she is the Lannister with the brain, not Tywin. Lots of interesting OCs. Plenty of humour as well as teary moments.

    This has the potential to be the best time travel Fic in the ASOIAF universe: Daemon Targaryen reborn as the Prince that was promised!
    Sep 2023: the author has ended it after 13 excellent chapters, so still a WIP. This fic is definitely NOT complete.

    The Song is sung, and the Dawn is won, but the victory is bittersweet, and the cost is too high. Yet there is little that could not be done with magic if you were willing to pay the price. Dues are paid, fates are changed, and even destiny itself is covered with a shroud. AU + Time travel. Or alternately:

    The Battle for the Dawn is won, but everyone Bran knew was dead, so he throws a tantrum of epic proportions and drags Bloodraven into tossing unsuspecting and just freshly killed Jon Snow back into the past by sacrificing themselves. Messing with time makes ripples in the timeline, and some things are not the same.
