Summary
There’s no way Reo’s as bad as Chigiri makes him sound. So it’s taken him a while to confess to Nagi. It’s not like he was going to put it off forever. He just wanted to do it right.
He just wanted to do it right.
That, however, doesn’t actually explain the indecision that currently paralyzes him as he stands in front of Nagi’s locker. All he has to do is put it in. It’s easy, it’s simple, it’s something he can’t overthink.
Reo continues standing and staring at Nagi’s locker. Maybe, just maybe, this was a bad idea, though. Who cares what Chigiri thought anyway? Plus, these flowers weren’t even super fancy. Nagi deserved Reo’s best, and this certainly wasn’t it.
Yeah, Reo finally decides. This isn’t the way to do it.
Or, at least, that’s what Reo decides until he hears footsteps from around the corner and he yanks Nagi’s locker open, dumps the flowers inside, and slams it shut again.
Well, Reo thinks miserably. So much for that.

“Is that… Isagi?”
“Yup,” Anri says cheerily. “It’s a good likeness of him, isn’t it?”
Reo’s not sure about that. The eyes on the Isagi figure are comically large. He kind of looks like a bug.
Reo’s also not entirely sure what Ego and Anri want him to do with it. After squinting at the figure for a few more moments, he glances back at Anri.
“We’re selling them,” Anri blurts out with much more excitement than Reo thinks the news entails. He looks back at the figure.
“You’re selling figures of Isagi?”
“Not just Isagi,” Anri corrects. “All of you!”
Reo’s eyebrows raise. “All of us?” He pauses. “Do you… have permission to do that?”
“It was in the fine print,” Ego says through a mouthful of noodles. Reo’s not sure where he got the noodles from.

“You said I should do something about it. What should I do about it?”
Isagi fidgets. “I mean, I don’t know—specifically—what would be helpful. I guess just, like, having a conversation about it could help.”
“Is that really enough?” Nagi asks skeptically.
Isagi throws his hands up. “I don’t know! Why are you asking me?”
“Well,” Nagi hums. “Reo’s mad at me because of you, right?”
Isagi’s eyes nearly bug out of his skull. “What—what? What did I do?”
Nagi nods. “Reo’s mad at me because of you,” he decides. “So it’s only fair that you help me get him back.”

“Mm,” Reo says absentmindedly, scribbling out a misspelled word in his notes. It takes a few moments before the question actually registers, and his head whips up. “Sorry, what?”
“Would you,” his friend repeats, “hypothetically, date me?”
Reo blinks. Reo blinks again. The question continues to make zero sense. He puts his pen down.
“Um,” he says.
“Sorry, sorry,” Kunigami says with a sigh. “I’m going about this all wrong. What I’m actually trying to ask is—would you be willing to pretend to date me for a few weeks?”
“Oh,” Reo says, as if that makes any more sense than the original question. "Uh... why?"

It only occurred to him now after getting stuck inside. ‘The Caves of, uh, Something’ was not even a fully published story! More of a draft, really! And why was it happening to him and Mobei Jun instead of Luo Binghe and a hot ice demon babe? There were elements of this storyline that definitely needed a completely different dynamic than the one he had with his king!

Again, not a question. “You can.” When Mobei-jun makes an absolutely terrifying face, Shang Qinghua hastens to add, “But not instantly! Y-you can actually recover from it, if the hypothermia doesn’t progress too far.”
“How far?” Mobei-jun growls.
“There are f-f-f-five stages,” Shang Qinghua shivers out, lips numb. “The fifth stage is death.”

Shang Qinghua and Mobei-jun have their spiritual powers sealed before getting dumped in a white-out snowstorm. Mobei-jun quickly learns that humans are far more susceptible to the cold than he thought.

His eyes are on Reo, and Reo can’t reconcile whether this type of reunion is something straight out of his dreams, like he’s caught the manifested smoke of possibly meeting Nagi again and pulled it into reality to experience himself, or is it something straight out of his nightmares that make his mind race a million miles per hour and keep him up half the night?
And despite it all, Reo’s traitorous heart still wants to leap out of his chest at the sight of him.

Reo chokes on his drink, carbonation shooting straight up his nose and making him gasp. He coughs wildly.
“Sorry?”After a disastrous loss at the Emmy Awards, renowned actors Mikage Reo and Nagi Seishiro stopped working together. Reo is handling this perfectly fine, thank you, until he finds out that they've both been cast in the project of a lifetime. Now, he's forced to confront their past, their future, and some uncanny similarities between himself and the pining teenage soccer star he's supposed to portray.
