Ilya came out to Irina when he was 14, by the time he was 15 she decided she wanted a safer and better life for her son outside of Russia. The Vetrova family friends in Ottowa agreed to take Ilya in when he turned 16 and that was when Ilya joined his childhood best friend Svetlana in a Canadian high school.
How will Ilya navigate joining a new circle of friends and moving onto college when his eyes won’t move from those beautiful freckles and those piercing brown doe eyes that he sees from across the locker room?
Time will tell and be a challenge that Ilya will more than happily take on….

Summary
While out at a club in New York to celebrate Pike and Jackie's joint bachelor/bachelorette party Shane runs into someone unexpected, Cliff Marleau. Feeling hurt and petty after having been ghosted by Ilya for the past six months Shane decides to hook up with Marleau.
Ilya is back in Russia and regrets having ghosted Shane. He thinks he will have time to fix things, to make things right, once he returns to Boston in the fall. What Ilya doesn't expect is to return only to find out Shane and Marleau are now in a relationship.

Cliff pauses then. Hand stuck midair as he was reaching for his beer. “Lily’s in Boston?”
“Yeah man. Sorry to burst your bubble, not all Boston girls are loyal to the Bears.”
Cliff turns to Hayden then. Cocking his head a little to the side, his eyes are searching Hayden’s face as if he was trying to read his mind. He opens his mouth to speak. He closes it. He shakes his head a little. And opens his mouth again,
“That’s so fucking weird dude. Roz’s ‘Jane’ is in Montreal. What are the odds those fuckers have girls in each other city’s. That would be next level rivalry, man."

He was all dominant energy, a true leader, but kind—so fucking kind. Kinder than Cole thought was possible of a man that size, in the position he played as both Captain and winger.
Cole didn’t think any specific thing about Marley, though, just that he was his Captain. A good dude—someone he looked up to in a mentorship kind of way, not in any other way.
Because he wasn’t that thing, and as long as Cole remembered that, this season would go off without a hitch.
