“What,” Peter says flatly.
His neighbor pulls out her paperback, but her eyes are still on him. “You’re always carrying around that ancient camera. Are you, like, a private investigator or something?
“First off, Bertha isn't ancient, she’s gracefully aging,” Peter corrects, jamming the key in the frozen lock, the hair dryer still on full blast. “And no, I work for a local paper. Selling pictures.” Which is sort of true.
“Of naked people?”
“Of—no, MJ, of regular people. Clothed people. In clothes.”
“Vigilantes?” she asks smoothly.
He lowers the hair dryer, gives her an assessing look. She looks back politely, which concerns him. MJ doesn’t do anything politely.

Between paying for rent with underground fight rings, hunting down traffickers, and infiltrating the Avengers' Tower as a janitor, Peter shouldn't have time to worry about his nosy neighbor. If their locks didn't keep freezing, he wouldn't have to spend most nights stuck with her in the hallway, hoping she doesn't pepper spray him. Rudo gave it his best shot and let out a terrible metallic shriek. Enjin pulled back away, grimacing.
“So, yeah. I’m bringing him home. Make sure everybody knows not to kill on sight, ‘kay?”

Rudo dies before Enjin can find him after the fall. He’s too angry to stay that way.

Tim's 'family' are shitty assholes. It's hard not to be with the lives they lead, but still.
Then he gets thrown into a universe much different yet uncomfortably similar to his own, and realizes that maybe... Tim's more like his shitty family than he realized.
He couldn't care less how concerning that sounds, just get him home already. Emotionally-competent Bruce Wayne is giving him the heebie jeebies.
