It was Alastor's turn to roll his eyes, “Whatever you say. We are getting away from the subject at hand. I’m asking to make a deal with you.”
Lucifer's eyes nearly popped out of his skull and he couldn’t suppress the bark of a laugh that came out of him in surprise, “A deal?? With me? A literal deal with the devil.”
Alastor’s smooth smile stayed steady on his lips, “Yes. That’s what I said.”

“What.” he said, and the child jolted, sending him a frightened look that immediately made him feel guilty.
“Ah, here you are.”
His mother’s voice almost made Venti jump, but Istaroth didn’t seem to care as she walked out of the kitchen, sending a small smile toward the girl before turning toward her son.
“Paimon, this is my son Venti, your cousin. Say hi.”
(Family is complicated. Paimon and Venti are left to deal with it.)

Summary
His dad has his own phone attached to the wall, on his side of his parents’ bed.
It’s a black rotary phone, all shiny with engravings only his dad understood: a rolled up newspaper, a pinball machine, a baseball bat, a fist, and a bike lock. It rings sometimes, but neither he nor his sister ever actually answer it.
His dad talks on that black phone for hours. Sometimes he ends the call laughing, sometimes he ends it while crying, sometimes he just ends it and gets into the car to drive away somewhere. When he comes back after a few hours, he brings his mom flowers, his sister a new toy, and him some of his favourite candy.
He got on his bike to follow his dad once. He found him standing at a few memorials, lined up in a row. He didn’t get a look at the names, having turned back to ride back home.
He didn’t do that again.

He has trouble understanding his dad’s eccentricities.
