Summary
It wouldn't be quite truthful to say that he used a persona when on cases. Persona implied some form of falsehood, as though the image that he portrayed when acting as 'Detective Blanc' was a construct used to prop up the false idol that all the hullabaloo surrounding his more infamous cases had brought about. In reality, Benoit Blanc had always prided himself on presenting himself exactly as he is. A proud heretic, consistently eccentric, and unapologetically queer in every sense of the word.
Instead, he was just… more, when on the job.
More, and somehow less.
Or, I am apparently incapable of not writing character studies about Benoit Blanc

Hizashi groaned, already resigning himself to the stress of having to piece together comprehensible notes off of what Shouta and Oboro took down, when the faint tchk of a small item hitting his desk reached his ears.
Lifting his head revealed a brand new packet of batteries sitting there, as if by magic. He stared at it for a second, waiting for his brain to engage, then glanced to the side when he felt a poke at his shoulder.
Shouta stared at him, deadpan, before flicking his eyes pointedly between the batteries and Hizashi's ears before turning back to the front of the class.
