Summary
Johnny Cade is a greaser, through and through. Sometimes he wishes he wasn’t but in life you have to pick up the hand you’re dealt. One night his best friend, Ponyboy and him are jumped by Socs in a blue Mustang. Instead of pulling out his blade, Johnny is stopped by a complete stranger in a laced dress. While she’s a stranger to him, she’s not to his attacker, Bob Sheldon.
Penelope Sheldon is a straight-laced girl who never turns in a homework assignment late. She craves a sort of freedom she’s never had but is too scared to take it under her older brother’s watchful eye. But one-night changes it all. The night she meets a certain boy wearing a denim jacket.

Ponyboy Davis is not a Curtis. He is also not a Davis. His real name is Arthur Palm. And he's an ex cult member. The cult was the Rising Cross cult, a religious cult. Ponyboy's role? Sacrifice.
Ponyboy didn't want to be a sacrifice, so one night he ran. And ran. He notified the police, who notified the FBI, who notified... whoever comes next. Until Ponyboy ended up in witness protection.
And he was placed with the Curtis', who were threatened into it. If Darry didn't take Ponyboy, Soda would go to a boys home. They didn't know of his origins, all they knew was his cover story. That he was a JD.
Since apparently the cult wouldn't expect Arthur to be a hoodlum.
Fic is hopefully better than summary.
