District 6's Ponyboy Curtis is reaped for the 65th annual Hunger Games.
With other tributes that seem very determined to hunt him down, and a struggling mentor, he's sure that he won't make it.
But he trusts himself to find reliable allies, anything that could possibly help postpone what he thinks is his inevitable death in the arena. He isn't sure when his allies end up being a shy-looking and quiet boy from District 12 and a seemingly untrustworthy male tribute from District 10 with a questionable past.
Yet soon enough, he is reminded that there can only be one victor.

Johnny was trying to keep a good attitude about this, thinking if he pretended it didn’t upset him, Dallas wouldn’t be upset. Though you could never predict how he would feel.

Fate had other ideas and sent him (And Curly!) straight to the past, normally someone would freak out and once calming down figure out how to save his dead friends, but not Pony. Ponyboy was used to adapting quickly and it was what had kept him alive, of course he'd start selling drugs with Curly!
Well... that was mostly for the money although he did find the rush fun.
Don't get him wrong, he loved books and writing and math and all that fun stuff butttt sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta... Yeah, no, Ponyboy just wants to have fun and save Johnny and Dally while doing it.
