“Oh? Now, what do we have here?” He smiled. It wasn’t a nice smile, like the ones Martin practiced in the mirror for the first day of school. It scared him. “Ah. Hello, Jon. Martin. Apologies for startling you, but I wanted to make sure I found you, so I thought it best to announce myself.”
“Who are you?” Martin said. He knew that he had to be brave, like Mum said, even as everything within him trembled at the stranger. Easier said than done.
“You can call me Mr. Bouchard,” the man said. He leaned forward. “You boys will be seeing a lot of me from now on.”
“Why?”
“Because your parents are dead.”
Everything in Martin’s world stopped.
or, in the middle of season three, Martin and Jon are de-aged into eight-year-olds. Elias is very pleased by this development. Tim is not. At least, he will be when he finally finds out.

Tim inched towards the door and tried to hear if anything was moving inside. Nothing. Slowly, he raised his hand and knocked against the wood. Still, nothing. So he opened it. At first he couldn't see anything through the dusty darkness of the room. He turned on the light, looked at the floor, and turned it off again. After a stunned second of silence, he turned it back on.
Laying there, on his side, arms hiding his face, was Jonathan bloody Sims.
Or: Jon returnes from the Circus, but refuses to speak. Martin and a reluctant Tim take it upon themselves to take care of him, involving lots of angst and fluff.

Summary
The Archivist reached out, worn ragged from his forced captivity, and gripped the handle of the door that had never been there. He slowly turned it and paused for just one moment, as if expecting something to stop him, to save him from this newest horror, as once had happened when he was a small child. But there was no one here but his executioner and, somewhere not far enough away, even worse monsters. Stealing himself with what bravery he had left, he pulled the door open and stumbled inside. The door shut with an echoing slam, leaving no chance for him to change his choice.
