“Colt here is part of our stunt crew,” he explained, jabbing a thumb in his direction. “One of the best I’ve seen in all my years,” he added, jabbing Colt in the stomach with his elbow as Jody nodded.
“Stunts, huh?” She mused, looking him up and down as Colt felt heat rush to his face. Jody chewed on the inside of her cheek, cocking her head to the side as she studied him closely. “Are you-” she lowered her voice to barely above a whisper. “Are you Ryder’s stunt double?”
“I am actually," he admitted. “How’d you-”
“I knew he didn’t do his own stunts!” She whispered excitedly with a grin that made Colt feel weak in the knees. “He’s such a bloody prick, I mean, there’s no way someone who’s that much of a prat actually has the balls to do his own stunts.”
He’s so fucked.

“And what if he wakes up paralyzed, Ryland. You’re his brother,” she pleaded. “You know that will ki-” she caught herself, the words lodged in her throat. “You know it will break him.”
Ryland turned away from her, hands tucked into his pocket. He let out a shaky exhale. “I don’t care."

She opened her mouth to protest, but Colt cut her off. “The guy you fell in love with died in a horrific accident. I’m what’s left,” he scoffed, pointing at the door. “If you don’t like it, you can leave. There’s the door.”
"I know that’s not true because he’s standing right in front of me-” she gestured towards him- “and I wish he’d let me help him instead of trying to force me away. And I don’t know why he’s being so stubborn about it.”
Colt leaned back, his hair falling over his eyes. He’d been letting it grow out since the accident, refusing Jody’s offers to help him cut it. She couldn’t tell if he liked it like that or if it was just another symbol of him trying to separate himself from who he was before the fall. Define his life into two distinct parts, a before and after.
Jody had a sinking feeling that the “after” wasn’t meant to include her.

He’d snuck back into the MetalStorm set, not quite sure how he’d made it back there, considering how he was clinging to consciousness like a koala on a tree. He slowly crept into the Stunt Crew’s trailer, snatching his phone back and powering it back on, only to be faced with a number that Colt had to believe was a glitch.

Colt blinked. Damn, Ry. I leave for three hours.

Colt Seavers is being framed for murder, but when he gets back to his phone, he sees that he has 382 missed calls from his brother Ryland, and 127 voicemails, each one more panicked than the last. His quest to clear his name by forcing Tom Ryder into a confession is overshadowed by the overwhelming anxiety of what had his twin brother so scared, and why Ryland isn't answering the phone just days before the Hail Mary launches.

Ryland flinched, looking around the Hail Mary on instinct before he remembered that he was alone, he was twelve light-years away from the next closest human. He sighed, squeezing his eyes shut. But then again, why did that voice sound so clear?

Rocky and Grace talk about mates, and when Rocky announces that he hates Mark, Grace suddenly remembers two other people who also really hate Mark. A camera woman named Jody, and her mysterious stuntman boyfriend with a Miami Vice Stunt Team jacket that shares Ryland's face. But annoyingly, he can't seem to remember the stuntman's name, and why he cared so much about him and his leather jacket.

He stumbled backwards, collapsing onto the floor of the lab with a resounding thud as Rocky screeched, scrambling over to him. Ryland brought his knees to his chest, burying his face in his hands.
“Why Grace fall, question? Grace okay? Grace say Grace okay!”
“I’m- I’m okay, Rocky, I just-” he whispered, feeling a sense of guilt pool in his stomach as something else made the hairs on his arms stand on end. “I- I have a brother. Colt is my brother. How could I-” he felt a tear trickle down the side of his face- “How could I forget my twin brother?”

During an argument about who is going to risk themselves to retrieve the predator collector, Grace finds that he's had an argument with someone this stubborn before, and it's only a matter of time before that name slips out, bringing back the flood of memories that come with it.

The airlock hissed as it opened, and Ryland could hear the pounding of his heart echoing through the helmet of the suit as he stared out at the expanse of swirling green that was the planet below him. He hesitated, his basic survival instincts screaming at him to get back inside, back to safety, to be selfish. He can’t do this.
But there’s Yao’s voice in his head. Find someone to be brave for.
He had someone. He was twelve light-years away. And he was going to die if Ryland couldn’t bring back the predator. An instinctive panic that his body was all too familiar with took hold at the thought. He wasn’t going to let his twin brother die, no matter how stubborn Colt would be about it.
Or-
Ryland and Rocky are going in to retrieve the predator collector from Adrian, but when everything goes wrong, he falls back on his desire to save the person he cares most about, but he might be too late. Roughly four years (for him, at least) too late.

He smiled for a moment longer, before turning off the camera. Ryland leaned back. Final words to Earth. He’d thought about them a lot. Without Colt, it seemed a little more complicated. There was one last person he could possibly think of, and in the interest of his brother, he flicked the camera back on and took a deep breath.
“Okay, Stratt, I lied. I’ve got one last thing to say." He chewed on the inside of his cheek. "I need you to do me a favor. And considering you forced me to go to space, you owe me one.”
“I need you to track down Jody Moreno. I’ve got one last thing to say, and it’s for her, so-” he gestured at the screen- “go find her. I’ll wait.”
Or-
When the Taumeoba escapes into the fuel lines of the Hail Mary, Grace is left with a choice: Go home to a world without his twin brother, or save Rocky. Before he sends the beetles off, he sends one last message to the woman who, in another life, should have been his sister-in-law.

Save for a very brief party phase during his undergrad, Ryland was the safe one. I, on the other hand, jumped off buildings and got set on fire for a living.”
Stratt pondered this information. “I was under the impression that you were dead. There was a news report circulating. Dr. Grace was,” she paused, choosing her next words carefully, “distraught.”
