Summary
I should probably just leave this guy alone, Shane thinks as he pushes open the heavy metal security door. He's already said hi to Lemaire and the other guys playing in the tournament, so there's no reason why he needs to come out here in the cold. He could wait to meet until they're all back inside. He could wait until the interviews. He could just not do it at all.
But Ilya Rozanov is his primary competition, here at the Prospect Cup and in the draft, so he's going to meet him. His mother calls it "leading from a position of strength," the idea that you meet your biggest challenges head on and take what they give, and she's right about most things, so. Plus, he's already met all the other guys and not meeting Rozanov would leave a hole in his list, a space that would bug him until it was filled, which could distract him, interrupt his play, and that's not going to happen, not here.

Summary
Rozanov is a part of his routine. And if Shane looks forward to Rozanov's texts, and his chirps, and the sex in a way that he doesn't look forward to other parts of his routine, well that's just because it's sex. Not for any other reason.

Summary
The second time Shane has sex with Rose is even worse than the first. He's not sure it even counts as sex, since he can't stay hard long enough to put a condom on and ends up making her orgasm with his hand, although they are both naked and on his bed. Rose is nice about the whole situation, and says all the polite things about how it happens to everyone, and it's fine. Shane doesn't believe her.

Summary
Shane knows it's ridiculous to leave the cottage at seven in the morning to get to the airport by ten. It's a beautiful Saturday in the middle of July, no bad weather, no real traffic, no reason to leave a whole hour early except that Shane is up (has been up for two hours now), and he can't wait to see Ilya Rozanov again.
