Hunter covers his head with a blanket, trying not to conjure up that image. Luz and Gus hugging him, excited. The Captain’s eyes gleaming, Amity giving him a reluctant but appreciative nod. Going back to the world where the sky is the right color and the rain needs to be avoided at all costs.
“Just imagine being useful for once,” the shadow adds because Belos was never very subtle, was he.(My gentle reader, I bestow upon thee the horrors of job interviews that go very poorly, an infinite sleepover in an overcrowded house, and awkward attempts at romance. Oh, and demonic possession. That too.)

Summary
For the first minute, they all just stand there in silence and watch the airship slowly disappear beyond the horizon. Even though they’re supposed to react quickly, the cold still comes as a shock. It takes some time for the reality to settle in and for them to realize how useless everything they have brought is going to be when their marrow freezes. Hunter hears some of the Scouts inhaling sharply after they approach the ledge and look down. They turn around, unsure where to start, and they shuffle their feet in the snow (terrible decision, really, this way their boots are going to get wet even quicker).
Hunter’s the first one to break the silence, and oh, he does it with style. He has been rehearsing that line for a week.
“See you at the bottom, suckers!” he exclaims as he pulls out the staff and disappears in a flash of red light.(or: The Obligatory "Leave Everyone at the Top of the Mountain and See Who Makes It Back to the Bottom Alive" Fic. With a splash of Steve)

Summary
So after some of the grand gestures and heroic speeches have been made, the first three statues of Belos have been toppled over, and most of the citizens have gone to sleep regardless of their political sympathies, there has still been a need for a more discreet gathering.
Lilith Clawthorne has proclaimed herself the official scribe, and nobody protested. Why would they, she was made for this job, and she’s an expert at color-coding. Her first decision has been to refuse writing down any of Edalyn’s puns, which is a shame, really, because they’re great, even though they seem to make Raine uncomfortable. The initial ‘situation got out of hand’ was funny. Even Lilith had to admit that. But she still refused to put it on record.
“Which brings us to the last item on the agenda,” now she says crisply. “We need to decide what we do with the Golden Guard.”Series

“Belos made you.”
His ears flatten, his eyes widen, and it looks like all the blood has drained from his face. It’s a really odd reaction to the most obvious facts.
“What do you mean, made me?” he asks with something that is probably supposed to be a nervous chuckle.
Amity rolls her eyes because she’s never met anyone this bad with metaphors.
“He’s raised you, shaped you, indoctrinated you, sharpened you into a weapon,” she explains, and she doesn’t understand why he relaxes at that. “A knife that changes an owner is still a knife, you know?”
“Ah.” He sends her an inappropriately toothy smile. “So you think I’m a tool.”
“Yeah, a massive one,” she sniggers.(Or: Hunter's showing a lot of symptoms, and Amity's really bad at interpreting them. But there's also a really cool, really round potato Hunter presents to Willow).

Sometimes he half-expects his hands to reach the higher shelves just by getting longer. It still comes to him as a surprise to note that they are very much solid, and so are his legs. More than once, he has caught himself wanting to turn into liquid, get through the obstacle and resume his original shape on the other side. Well, not wanting. That’s definitely not the appropriate word.

Summary
He teaches the young man the basic things, how to use a spoon, how to kneel before the cross, how to wash one’s face, and how to change one’s drawers from time to time. He shows him objects and tells him their names, and Caleb, being the bright lad he’s always been, soon grasps the most material concepts. The verbs are a bit more difficult, but with God’s help, they make it work. And every day Philip reads to Caleb from the Bible, and after a couple months he starts pointing at specific words and repeating them so that his brother understands the relationship between the sound and the letter. Before they get to the Gospels, Caleb can read by himself, though he might encounter serious problems, were he forbidden from tracing the verses with his index finger or mouthing the words under his breath. Those are happy times, and Philip delights in the rewards Lord God has placed upon him.
And then, one evening, Caleb asks Philip about other books.

So Luz is Edalyn’s kid, and Hunter is Luz’s brother, but he’s not Edalyn’s kid. He’s, genetically speaking, Edalyn’s great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather. And yet, he can’t be placed as their ancestor because Lilith’s niece says it would hurt her brother’s feelings, though Lilith’s niece’s brother isn’t Lilith’s nephew. Because he’s her ancestor. Do keep up.
There must be some way to represent this mess visually in a manner that would make sense, and would also entail King being at the top of the page and having a crown. Lilith’s not one to disregard the Titan’s requests.(Or: There’s a dinner party at the Owl House, and the whole family’s invited. Yes, some of the family members don’t know that they are family yet. But they will surely enjoy the news about their ortet, and there are also glowing letters, two different cakes, and the resident bad girl historian has been working on the family tree for quite some time. It’s going to be great.)

Summary
The view from the staircase is, well, not stunning, that’s definitely not the word. It’s just that “view” is supposed to be accompanied by “stunning,” and Luz can feel her brain coming to a screeching halt and refusing to process what they’re seeing.
It's skeletons. Come on, they both knew it was going to be skeletons. The entire Isles know at this point.(Or: despite what the stories would have you believe, in the aftermath, there are things to deal with. Those things include ruined infrastructure, electing new leaders, and prosecuting those responsible for the old regime. And apparently, also Grimwalker mass graves.)
