The Queen’s Plague hits Ketterdam once more, and Kaz is…. fine. He definitely isn't paranoid to the point he takes Inej to quarantine in the Van Eck mansion... and Jesper getting sick definitely isn't causing any sort of discomfort. It doesn't remind him of Jordie at all. Not even a little. Not at all.
Jesper's fever does make him say some strange things, though.

“Well,” Kaz grimaced and looked over his shoulder before facing her. “A while ago, I ran an insurance scam. It was a long one. Took me a few months and it required a lot of backup,” he admitted. Inej nodded. “Um, to make it work… I needed a spouse…” he said slowly. Inej’s brows raised.
“Kaz…Are you already married?”
“I had forged it,” he said, almost defensively. “It’s forged. The whole thing was forged, but apparently I did a good job because the idiots at the courthouse say it is legally binding.”
Part of Inej wanted to laugh. This could only happen to them. She squeezed Kaz’s fingers.
“Just sign some divorce papers then.”
“That’s the issue.”
“Is she dead? You don’t need to worry about it if she’s dead, Kaz.”
“No. Nobody is dead…unfortunately,” Kaz sighed and ran a hand over his face. “It’s just going to be a pain in the ass.”
Inej felt the first hint of worry climb in her chest.
“….who did you marry?”
Kaz grimaced.
"Take a guess."
Or
Kaz and Inej are on a time crunch to get married. Unfortunately, Kaz's forgery skills from a fake marriage require divorce papers and Jesper just isn't sure he's willing to put their fake-kids through that.

“Damn, Kaz. Inej is extra out of your league now,” Jesper mused with a wicked grin, absently playing with Wylan’s fingers. Kaz narrowed his eyes in return but was distracted by a murmur that went over the group.
“…Kaz?” a girl asked. “The captain’s Kaz? You’re Kaz Ghafa?”
Silence.
Well. This was unexpected.

Now that Inej is an international pirate, she's developed a pretty renowned reputation. This has surprising consequences for Kaz. To the Kerch, he may be Dirtyhands, but to the rest of the world he's now Captain Ghafa's husband.

“Kaz has an ex?” Jesper asked, sidetracked by this very new information. He turned to Kaz. “You have an ex?” he asked incredulously. Kaz looked between them all - expression unreadable.
“No.”
What was happening? Inej and Wylan both turned to stare at Kaz as if he was lying. Which, well, maybe. Also, Jesper was a little offended.
“Why do they know you have an ex and I didn’t?” he asked, a little petulantly. Kaz kicked him under the table.
“I don’t.”
“Inej?” Jesper asked. She scoffed.
“We’re talking about you, Jesper. Well, you and Kaz,” she said with a wave of her hand. “I don’t think it’s strange you two still spend time together. Though, to Wylan’s point, I can see why it’s a little strange for him given you don’t do this with anyone else you’ve dated as far as I know-”
Or
Inej and Wylan might have maybe, sort of, kind of thought their boyfriends were exes, and debate if it’s weird that they still hang out. Jesper and Kaz are understandably confused.

Jesper’s jaw tightened. He couldn’t remember the last time he had felt this kind of anger - a deep burning that boiled up inside of him, the heat blistering in his veins as he stood there, keeping his expression blank.
“She had special powers,” one man said, looking up at the statue.
Jesper had to keep his voice even as he answered, ignoring Nina’s rising curiosity beside him. “Did she?”
The man nodded sagely. “She must have. Perhaps she saw the future or something. I mean, she had to know Sankta Leoni would be a hero. Why else would she willingly die and leave her own child behind?”
Jesper swore to every god this world had to offer if he ever saw Leoni Hilli’s face, he would hold her at gunpoint until she took these ridiculous statues down herself.
Or
Leoni Hilli is now considered a saint. This makes Jesper’s life considerably more complicated as he brings the Crows along to visit his father.

“How are you doing, Brekker?” Nina asked when Inej left, and the door finally shut with a soft click. Kaz didn’t bother to look up from his work, tiredly scratching through some form or another.
“Polite of you to ask,” he muttered. Nina tilted her head, waiting for the sarcasm to come out full force. “You’re sweet to care, Zenik. I’m touched. Truly.”
“I don’t care,” Nina said loftily, though her eyes were fixed on his face. She hesitated, a little unsure if she wanted to leave this untouched or not. It somehow felt dirty to keep it a secret, though. Nina didn’t need the details, but she also wanted Kaz to know she wasn’t trying to hide anything. Taking a long breath, she continued. “But the voice in the canal asked me to make sure you’re okay.”

As Nina’s corpsewitch powers grow, the voices of the dead get stronger. Sometimes, it’s painful to hear them.
