Summary
It had been many years since the most favored Caretaker of the Crimson Egg had passed on. But then he arrived, then Technoblade arrived. A son of Sir Billiam, and more interesting by the day. The Egg does not know much about this man, he's not sure how he wants him—a pet, a friend, a caretaker like his ancestor—but he knows he wants him, so he takes him away. Billiam was his best vassal, but he never got to reward the man. Perhaps this will be an appropriate repayment.
The more he sees the more The Egg wants—the 16th happens, the withers happen, and The Egg craves—This is the one. This one. He's going to have this one, and no one will tell him otherwise.

"So?" The God of the World asks, extending the book. "Will you write the story of this world, or will you continue to be a mere side-character?"
Wilbur opens his eyes and gives Dream a little half-smile-- probably the realest smile he's given since he arrived here. He reaches out and carefully takes the book from the god's grasp. "Every symphony needs a conductor. Every epic needs a playwright," he murmurs.
"Every story needs an author. I think we'll be good friends, Wilbur Soot. Author of the DreamSMP." Dream chuckles.
"Author of the DreamSMP," Wilbur muses, pulling the book close to himself and cracking it open to flip through the blank, empty pages. So many pages, so many possibilities. "It has a nice ring to it."

Summary
Dream is the number one Hero, trapped under the eyes of a predatory Heroes' Commission and just making the most of a life of fame he never wanted to live. At least he has George and Sapnap at his side to help him through the constant fight against villainy.
But when a couple erstwhile ventures into vigilantism bring him closer to his "rival", the Blood God, the landscape of their constant battle quickly changes tune. Maybe he can finally do some proper good in the world, and pay back a debt owed.
