Summary
Today felt different. They'd been having sex for a little while now, and so far, most of the time it had been gentle, careful despite their eagerness to get at one another; they'd still been figuring out how they worked together, unsure how to be good for each other.
But now, as Edwin hastily clambered off Charles' lap and pulled him up and through their games closet into the adjacent room, there was no trace of that lingering insecurity. And Charles himself certainly didn't feel any when he grabbed Edwin's waist again and drew him in for a deep, filthy kiss.
Charles and Edwin spend a heady afternoon together, and Charles marvels at just how comfortable they have become with each other.

Summary
Written to a (long ago, now) kinkmeme prompt: Charles touches a cursed object that allows him to hear Edwin's thoughts. At first he was going to tell Edwin immediately, but then he hears the loving things Edwin thinks about him, and he just wants to listen for a few days because he's never heard someone "say" things like that about him.
Snippet:
He heard Edwin’s rich and affectionate chuckle, not out loud but in his mind, and realized all at once how aggressively he was fidgeting, the couch beneath him rattling. He jerked to a stop, making an embarrassed face and wondering if he should apologize for being so distracting when Edwin was trying to work. But, there goes the hummingbird, thought Edwin, a quick and simple phrase wrapped in a hundred soft layers of affection. Charles sat still, feeling his partner’s fond thoughts more than hearing them.
But it was more than just fondness, or even love–it was comfort Edwin was exuding. A gentle, abiding, and complete familiarity, the kind that brings safety and healing. It was hearth, bread, and blanket.
