Summary
On the night of the Wayne murders, only two bodies were ever recovered. The last time Bruce Wayne was ever seen was in a blurred, black-and-white video, showing him walking in an almost impossibly straight line slowly and surely into the water of Gotham Harbour until his head disappeared beneath the murky surface.
The children of Gotham were well-known for their creepy nursery rhymes and campfire tales. Stories of reptilian monsters that scavenged in the sewers or clowns with Cheshire cat smiles and piercing laughs or wealthy assassins who bore owl masks and watched from the shadows were passed around every elementary school playground or sugar-fuelled slumber party in the city. But as the Wayne murders began to fade into memory and the manor on the hill stood empty for longer and longer, a new story began to emerge.
or: On the same night his parents are killed, Bruce Wayne vanishes. When he comes back, he's something else. For the lost and lonely children of Gotham, he's a protector, maybe a friend. And, as time goes on, he's not the only one.
