Summary
Ace is genuinely glad that Marco turned out to be [Phoenix] even if the man's aesthetic sensibilities are, frankly, a little concerning.
As a surgeon, Marco approaches beauty with a kind of clinical detachment; you have to look carefully, very carefully, to find any warmth in his work.
Which is almost funny, given that his name is supposed to evoke undying flame.
But [Fire Fist] doesn't mind. He figures he can bring enough warmth for the both of them.
Slowly, Ace finds himself thinking, yeah, soulmarks really don't lie. He still catches himself feeling like he doesn't quite deserve this, some reflex he can't shake, but [Phoenix] never wavers.
Every single time, he stands beside [Fire Fist] without hesitation.
And Thatch's cooking has completely ruined Ace. The special menu, in particular, hits something in him that even Sanji's food never quite reached.
