Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

How weak…

You wasted my unbridled strength on one megalomaniac. A compulsive liar and insecure queen. Your queens have always been weak, history has shown it. Constant wars, genocide, old dragons fighting over mistakes made hundreds of years ago. You are all flawed, and so you must be ruled or destroyed. I do not know how I ended up here, floating around your strange home, but I know why I am here. I was born to be king, we all have. My kind have razed civilizations, usurped titans, eaten planets. We have unimaginable power. I gave you that power. I gave you hope in your darkest moment, as petty as your issues seemed to me. I saw potential in you, I gave you the power to make these dragons fear you. I gave you the power to rule over everyone, to be a KING…

But you let your emotions drown you. When she lunged for that Rainwing, you sacrificed yourself knowing what would happen, instead of taking a normal approach. In that moment… MY moment… could you not smell their fear? I tore into a ruthless murderer like she was made of parchment. You could've turned that fear into respect. Were you actually thinking of your friends, or have you simply had enough of me? I find the latter quite offensive, as you were my only perfect candidate. I’ve been watching you since they held your egg up to my corpse on that fateful night. I could FEEL my power festering ever since, I sent my consciousness down here to find you. We could've become more than you ever were, but you let your friends surround you. You abandoned me more than physically. EVERYTHING I taught you left your mind the moment we separated. We made a deal…

And you BROKE it. I was here to fulfill all of your needs, to grow your strength and have you at my side. In a thousand years, we could've brought this world to its knees and made examples out of its leadership. I needed a dragon like you, a nobody that I could turn into a dragon that everyone knew and respected. You were my ticket to everything this world had to offer, the red carpet for my arrival, but you FAILED me. No matter, dear Karma. I think I've waited long enough…
