Shane and Ilya have a complete symmetrical SOULMATE bond (share bodies, thoughts, feeling, visuals, and more)
↪️Full consciousness transfer that is almost always upsetting/unwanted and ties to extreme emotions, they learned how to control it on their own and never do this on purpose
↪️Emotional/thought/memory transfer which works a bit like texting where they can send something but can’t force a response, Ilya mostly transfer emotions Shane mostly transfers thoughts.
↪️Sometimes Ilya wakes up ‘knowing’ things they are not necessarily truths but are information that Shane understands as facts.
↪️They occasionally share language fluency
❗️They each understand and interact with the bond differently due to their different personalities and ways of viewing the world and have each had the assumption that they experience the bond in the same way until after the CCM shoot
↪️Shane is structured and compartmentalized so he views the bond like a door and spends a lot of time and effort trying to keep it closed unless he wants to send something. He receives a lot of Ilya’s emotions and is almost always somewhat aware of what he is feeling, but is prone to letting Ilya’s emotions influence his own as he is bad at ignoring them.
↪️Ilya is less concerned with control so he spends more time and effort learning to ignore transfers unless he wants to receive them. He receives a lot of Shane’s thoughts and only processes what he actively seeks out/ is sent, but unintentionally transfers much more to Shane than is transferred to him (Shane assumes this is on purpose).
❗️Shane and Ilya hide the extent to which their bond is active due to fears that the league would not sign players with a mental link to each other.
↪️Pairs like Shane and Ilya are not very common and while it is implied that there is some precedent for platonic soulbonds forming between players who are already signed these players are almost all immediately put on bond blocking medication if transference is a risk
↪️The league wouldn't take the risk by signing an untested pair especially if one or both had mental bonds Because while bond blockers are not always harmful, they often have extreme side effects especially when blocking mental bonds.
↪️STS is not the only soulbond related issue that people in the world face and the league is generally more willing and able to provide accommodations for players who deal with those kinds of troubles.
