“I know we have no choice anymore, but I already miss you guys a lot. I think I’ve cried like 15 times this past week.” Mike couldn't help his tears. He couldn’t look Will in the eye.
Will stared at the stupid freckled face before him tearfully. Why did Mike always find a way to reel him back in without even knowing it?
“I’m really going to miss you, Will.” Mike finally made out before his tears swallowed him. He tried to wipe them, but they fell faster than his hands could catch.

Mike reminisced on that moment until the sun rose. He wished, for just a moment, that he was back in his cramped basement before everything had changed without him. Yet, when he rolled onto his back, Will was still sleeping soundly on the uncomfortable dorm mattress. His hair was still stringy and straight, and that fucking necklace was around his neck. Mike was still restless and miserable, forcing himself to pretend he didn’t know exactly what had changed while he had been at Columbia.
