Chapter 1: -10 Months 13 Days: Baby Fever

Notes:

Hello reader! I hope you’re having a good start to your New Year!

As stated in the summary: this work is going to be a series of triple drabbles (300 words/chapter) that depict tiny snippets of Katsuki Bakugo’s struggles with food issues, ignited and encouraged by Mitsuki’s questionable parenting methods. Act I will encompass Katsuki’s childhood, and Act II will showcase his time at UA.

Though this is my first MHA work– and I’m SUPER excited to start writing for this fandom!– it’s not my first work touching on food issues, because I LOVE writing about food issues. It’s my bread and butter, pun intended.

I hope you enjoy!

Chapter Text

Mitsuki swallowed her last edamame bean before popping a prenatal vitamin into her mouth, chasing it with a swig of water. Then, her attention returned to her laptop screen. “These researchers are saying you should even avoid green tea, not just black tea and coffee.”

“Well, remember what your doctor said, Mitsuki.” Masaru reminded her as he sat down on their brown leather couch, pulling her into his side.

“Why’s that matter?” Mitsuki rolled her eyes. “There’s no harm in getting a second opinion, ya know.”

But Masaru knew this latest journal article was his wife’s fifth or sixth opinion. “It says ‘the experimental results didn’t provide statistically significant evidence to modify current evidence-based practices.’ That means green tea’s still good. And those researchers aren’t even medical doctors.”

Mitsuki frowned, slamming the laptop shut. “Nevermind that. I’ll just avoid tea altogether while the little guy’s growin’ in there.”

Masaru winced. “Oh, I don’t know, hon. You go through three or four bags on a good day.” Quitting caffeine? Those sorts of withdrawals would be brutal on his capricious wife. If she followed through, he’d need to tread lightly in the coming months. “Dr. Sasaki said you could still have some-”

“I’m not drinking any, Masaru.” Mitsuki interrupted. “Water only from now on. I want our kid to be perfect. Healthy as can be. I’m not gonna chance screwing up his development over some insignificant caffeine fix you think I have.”

“I don’t think that, honey.” Masaru placated; he knew further argument was pointless. When Mitsuki set a bar, there was no point questioning its height. “And why do you keep assuming we’re going to have a boy? We aren’t even expecting yet.”

“I just now, alright.” Mitsuki waved him off, smiling as she pictured her future son. “A mother’s intuition.”

Notes:

The chapter titles of this work will relate to Katsuki Bakugo’s age. So Katsuki ain't even conceived yet and Mitsuki’s already got a plan of action.
