ANONYMOUS SUBMISSION
Spotted in Brooklyn
okay so i know this sounds INSANE but i swear i saw Shane Hollander (yes THE Shane Hollander from the Montreal Voyageurs) leaving a Russian restaurant in Brighton Beach last night around 11pm. He was with this TALL gorgeous man, like 6’3“ curly hair, expensive suit, very intense energy. They got into a black Mercedes together. The guy had his hand on Shane’s lower back and they were laughing about something. Shane looked really happy which good for him i guess but WHAT WAS HE DOING IN BRIGHTON BEACH???
This seems unlikely? Why would Shane Hollander be in Brighton Beach specifically, and wouldn’t he be recognized more if this were true? Probably a lookalike. But posting because it’s oddly specific!
@hockeyfan2841: lmaooo yeah right. Next you’ll tell me you saw Sidney Crosby at a bodega in Queens
@gossipqueen: Brighton Beach is so random though like why would someone make this up specifically??v
@realitytvrules: probably his cousin or something. athletes have for you know
@brooklyngirl94: i live in brighton beach and i’ve never seen any celebrities here ever. this is cap.
@conspiracy_theorist: That area is pretty Russian mob heavy actually 👀 just saying
@hockeyfan2841: @conspiracy_theorist you watch too many movies lol

[Discussion] Has anyone else noticed Shane Hollander’s “security guard”?
Okay so this might be nothing but I’ve been to like 5 Montreal home games this season and I keep noticing the same massive Russian dude in the tunnel/family section. Like ALWAYS there. 6’5” maybe, built like a tank, always in dark clothes, definitely armed (you can see the holster sometimes).
At first I thought he was just regular arena security but he’s ONLY there when Hollander is playing. And I saw him follow Hollander out to his car after a game once.
Is this normal? Do other star players have personal security at games? It seems excessive for a hockey player???
u/voysforlife: I noticed this too! Was at the game last week and this guy is ALWAYS watching Hollander specifically. Like not the general crowd, just Shane. It’s weird.
u/montrealborn86: My cousin works arena security and apparently this guy isn’t employed by the Bell Centre. He’s private security hired by someone connected to Hollander. Been there all season.
u/throwaway_voys_fan (OP): @montrealborn86 hired by WHO though? That’s the weird part. Why does a 27 year old hockey player need armed private security???
u/hollandertruther: Maybe he got serious threats? I know he had that “mugging” incident last year that people were suspicious about
u/realitychecking: The mugging story never made sense to me. Guy who’s worth millions “randomly” gets jumped and then suddenly has Russian security? Something else is going on
u/voysfan_mtl: can we not turn this into a conspiracy theory sub? Maybe he just wants extra security. He’s rich enough to afford it.
[deleted]: That area of Brooklyn where someone “spotted”!him on DeuxMoi has a lot of Russian organized crime presence. Just saying. 👀
u/moderator: Let’s keep speculation about illegal activities out of this discussion please. Reminder: Rule 3 - No unsubstantiated rumors about players’ personal lives.
u/throwaway_voys_fan (OP): Fair but like … this IS weird right? I’m not crazy?
u/voysforlife: It’s definitely weird. But weird doesn’t mean illegal or anything. Could be any number of explanations.
@HockeyGossipTea
okay but shane hollander has been “single” for his ENTIRE career and no one finds that strange??? man is famous, wealthy, attractive, and we’ve never seen him with anyone??? 🤔
@FanGirl_Voys
maybe he’s just private? not everyone needs to broadcast their relationships
@HockeyGossipTea
private is one thing but INVISIBLE is another. like at some point wouldn’t there be SOMETHING?
@realistic_fan
or maybe he’s gay and closeted? would explain a lot actually
@HockeyGossipTea
i mean … that would make sense but that DeuxMoi post said he was with a man and everyone called BS on it
@realistic_fan
because why would he be in BRIGHTON BEACH specifically if he’s trying to be secret about it lol. The whole thing is weird
@MTLVoyageurs_Updates
Shane Hollander has signed a 7-year contract extension! Well deserved! 🎉🏒 #GoVoyageursGo
@user_9051
love this but can we talk about how he looked EXHAUSTED in that press conference? mans needs a vacation
@concerned_fan
he always looks tired lately. hope he’s taking care of himself
@voysfanatic
probably just the grind of the season. it’s a long year

OKAY SO I HAVE A THEORY ABOUT SHANE HOLLANDER
I know this is going to sound insane but hear me out because I’ve been collecting evidence for like 18 months now and I think there’s something BIG going on.
EVIDENCE:
- The DeuxMoi post from a few months ago about him being spotted in Brighton Beach (Russian mob territory) with a “tall gorgeous man”
- His personal security guard who is ALWAYS with him and is clearly Russian (multiple reddit threads about this)
- That reporter who wrote a scathing article about Hollander and then like 48 hours later published a complete retraction and apology??? That was WEIRD and the new article was SO different it was like a different person wrote it
- Hollander has been “single” his entire career despite being attractive and wealthy
- His teammates did an interview once where they joked about his “mysterious personal life” and got really weird and giggly about it
- There are like 3 different “sightings” of him in New York over the years, always in the same area of Brooklyn, always with the same description of a man
MY THEORY:
Shane Hollander is in a secret relationship with someone connected to Russian organized crime. That’s why he has Russian security. That’s why he’s always in Brighton Beach. That’s why that reporter suddenly changed his story (intimidation???). That’s why he’s so private.
I know this sounds like fanfiction but like … connect the dots??? It all fits???
#shane hollander #montreal voyageurs #hockey conspiracy #am i crazy #probably yes #but also maybe not
@puckbunny2000 reblogged:
okay but this is actually kind of compelling??? the reporter thing was SO weird
@realitycheckplease reblogged:
you people need to touch grass. this is insane conspiracy theory nonsense
@hockey-conspiracies replies to @realitycheckplease:
THEN EXPLAIN THE ARTICLE
@realitycheckplease replies:
he made errors and corrected them??? journalists do that???
@concerned-sports-fan reblogged:
I mean the security guard thing is real though. I’ve seen him at games. It IS weird.
@user-87 reblogged:
what if he’s just gay and dating a normal russian guy who happens to have security? Like maybe the guy is rich and has security for his own reasons?
@hockey-conspiracies replies:
possible but doesn’t explain the Andrew Hammond thing or why he’d be in THAT specific neighborhood which is known for organized crime
@this-is-wild reblogged:
i hate that this kind of makes sense

u/hockeyfan_real
Tumblr thinks Shane Hollander is dating a Russian mobster
[Screenshot of the tumblr post]
I cannot believe what I just read. These people are INSANE.
u/realitycheck101: This is what happens when people have too much time on their hands
u/actuallymaybe: okay but the Andrew Hammond thing WAS weird though
u/hockeyfan_real (OP): Journalists make errors and correct them all the time! It’s not a conspiracy!
u/throwaway_sports: I mean I hate to say it but the Brighton Beach stuff is oddly specific and consistent across multiple “sightings” over multiple years
u/user_deleted: My cousin is a beat reporter for the Voyageurs and he says Hollander is EXTREMELY private. Like won’t talk about his personal life at all. Makes you wonder.
u/conspiracy_maybe: The security guard is real though. That’s been confirmed by multiple people. Why does a hockey player need armed Russian security?
u/hockeyfan_real (OP): MAYBE HE GOT THREATS? MAYBE HE’S JUST CAUTIOUS? WHY DOES EVERYTHING HAVE TO BE A CONSPIRACY?
u/moderator: Locking this thread. Too much speculation about a real person’s private life.
@SportsCenter
BREAKING: Shane Hollander out 4-6 weeks with lower body injury. Major blow to Montreal’s playoff hopes.
@user_7234
his “security guard”!was seen carrying him to a car after practice. wonder what happened
@concerned_fan_real
that’s actually kind of sweet though? Like clearly that guy cares about him
@conspiracy_brain
or he’s being PAID to care about him because he’s PRIVATE SECURITY doing his JOB
@randomfan_02
saw shane hollander at a restaurant in NYC last night. he looked happy which is nice to see after the injury
@user_67
which restaurant???
@randomfan_02
somewhere in brooklyn? didn’t catch the name. he was with someone but i didn’t want to stare
@user_67
DESCRIBE THE SOMEONE
@randomfan_02
tall? curly hair? idk i really wasn’t trying to be creepy about it
@user_67
WAS IT THE SECURITY GUARD
@randomfan_02
how would i know who his security guard is??? they just looked like they were having dinner

[Discussion] Shane Hollander’s career trajectory
With Hollander just winning his 4th Stanley Cup at age 31, where does he rank all-time? And is anyone else impressed by how DRAMA-FREE his career has been?
Like the guy just shows up, plays incredible hockey, wins championships, and goes home. No scandals, no controversies, just pure excellence.
u/voysfan_original: He’s top 20 all time at this point minimum. Possibly top 15 if he keeps this up for another 5 years.
u/guardians_fan_sad: I hate that he plays for Montreal but I respect the hell out of him. Total professional.
u/throwback_hockey: The fact that we know basically NOTHING about his personal life is honestly impressive in the social media age
u/user_82: “drama free” is relative. Didn’t he get mugged that one time? And there was that weird article saga with Andrew Hammond?
u/montreal_4ever (OP): The mugging was like 4 years ago and the Hammond thing was resolved immediately. That’s pretty drama-free for a guy who’s been in the league for over a decade
u/conspiracy_corner: still think there’s more to the mugging story but whatever
u/moderator: Let’s focus on his hockey career please

@user_92: GOAT status 🐐
@voyageurs_forever: How is this man still single though 😂
@realistic_fan: maybe he’s not single? maybe he’s just private?
@gossip_account: there’s been rumors for YEARS about him but nothing ever confirmed
@voyageurs_forever replies: what rumors??
@gossip_account replies: that he’s gay/bi and dating someone but keeping it super quiet. Also something about russian connections but that might be conspiracy theory nonsense

UPDATE TO MY SHANE HOLLANDER CONSPIRACY POST
So 6 years ago I made this post about Shane Hollander maybe being connected to Russian organized crime through a secret relationship. Everyone called me crazy.
WELL.
NEW EVIDENCE:
- He’s STILL with the same security guard after 8+ YEARS. Same guy. That’s not normal turnover for security personnel.
- There have been consistent “sightings” of him in Brighton Beach for almost a DECADE now. Always the same area. Always with a similar description of a companion.
- He’s now 35 and has never once been publicly linked to anyone romantically. In 15 YEARS in the NHL.
- His teammates are WEIRD about his personal life. There’s a compilation video of interviewers asking about his relationship status and his teammates all get this specific look and change the subject.
- That Andrew Hammond incident STILL doesn’t make sense if you actually look at the timeline.
MY UPDATED THEORY:
Shane Hollander has been in a committed long-term relationship with someone connected to Russian organized crime for AT LEAST 8-10 years. That person is likely the “tall curly-haired man” from multiple sightings. The security guard is provided BY this person. That’s why Hollander is so private, because revealing the relationship would reveal his partner’s identity and possibly their illegal activities.
I’m not saying it’s DEFINITELY true. But I’m saying it fits ALL the available evidence.

@newuser_2034 reblogged:
okay i know i should think this is crazy but why does it kind of make sense???
@hockeyfan_realistic reblogged:
you people have spent 8 years on this. EIGHT YEARS. maybe he’s just a private person??
@hockey-conspiracies replies:
a private person doesn’t have the SAME armed Russian security guard for 8+ years
@user_98 reblogged:
The teammates thing is real though. I’ve noticed it too. They get SO weird about his personal life.
@conspiracy-no-more reblogged:
What if we all just let this man live his life???
@hockey-conspiracies replies:
I AM letting him live his life. I’m just OBSERVING his life from a distance with INTENSE SCRUTINY.
@ShaneHollanderHockeyPlayer
After 17 incredible years, I’m announcing my retirement from the NHL. Thank you to Montreal, my teammates, the fans, and everyone who’s been part of this journey. I’m grateful for every moment. Time for the next chapter.
@NHL
A legendary career. Congratulations Shane! 👏🏒
@montrealvoyageurs
Forever our captain. Forever a legend. Thank you for everything, Shane. ❤️💙
@user_82
GOAT. End of discussion.
@conspiracy_fan
Does this mean we finally get to know about his personal life??? 😂
@realistic_fan
why would retirement change that? he’s been private for 17 years, probably staying private
@gossip_account
honestly respect to him for keeping his personal life completely out of the media for nearly two decades. That’s impressive.

[Serious] Shane Hollander retires as one of the greatest players of his generation
5 Stanley Cups
2 Hart Trophies
7 All-Star appearances
542 goals, 891 assists in 1,247 games
What’s his legacy?
u/voys_fan_forever: Top 15 all-time. Maybe top 10. Incredible career.
u/bears_fan_respectful: I hated playing against him but damn did I respect him. Total professional. Never a scandal. Just pure excellence.
u/user_old_timer: The fact that we still don’t know ANYTHING about his personal life is kind of remarkable. Man’s been famous for nearly 2 decades and never let anything slip.
u/conspiracy_theorist_og: those of us who’ve been following the theories for years are kind of sad we’ll probably never know the truth 😂
u/moderator: Let’s keep speculation out of this thread and focus on his incredible career.
u/hockey_stats_nerd: His consistency is what impresses me most. Never had a bad season. Never had a scandal. Never had a significant injury until late career. Just showed up and dominated for 17 years.
u/young_fan_2008: my dad used to tell me stories about watching him play when I was a kid. Legend.
u/realistic_observer: Five cups. TWO Hart trophies. Over 1400 points. Those numbers speak for themselves.
SHANE HOLLANDER: THE PRIVATE LEGEND
By Andrew Hammond
As Shane Hollander rides off into retirement, we’re left with an unusual situation: one of the greatest players of his generation remains almost completely unknown off the ice.
In an era of social media oversharing, Hollander maintained absolute privacy for 17 years. We know his hockey achievements intimately. We know almost nothing else.
And perhaps that’s exactly how it should be.
Hollander gave us everything on the ice — five championships, countless highlight-reel moments, consistent excellence that defined a generation. What he did in his personal time was his business.
In retrospect, maybe the mystery is part of the legend.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW: RETIRED NHL STARS
Shane Hollander
Unlike many retired players who become broadcasters or coaches, Shane Hollander has largely disappeared from public view since his retirement in June. According to sources close to the former captain, he’s “enjoying private life” and has no interest in staying in the hockey spotlight.
Hollander was spotted once in New York City in March but declined to comment to media. His representatives say he’s “happy and healthy” and asks for privacy as he transitions to life after hockey.
The mystery that surrounded Hollander’s personal life during his career continues into retirement.

MY FINAL POST ABOUT SHANE HOLLANDER
He’s retired now. He’s not a public figure anymore. So I’m going to stop speculating about his private life because it’s not fair and it’s not right.
But I want to say this:
Whether my theories were correct or not (and we’ll probably never know), Shane Hollander lived his life exactly how he wanted to. He kept his personal life private while being one of the greatest hockey players of his generation. He never let the speculation or the gossip affect his game or his happiness.
And that’s actually pretty fucking admirable.
So this is my last post about the “Shane Hollander conspiracy.” Not because I stopped being curious. But because he deserves to live whatever life he’s built for himself in peace.
Thanks for coming on this journey with me for the past decade (yes it’s been a decade, I’m old now).
Enjoy retirement, Shane. You earned it.

@newuser_2027 reblogged:
this is actually really mature and nice
@hockeyfan_forever reblogged:
imagine spending 10 years theorizing about someone’s personal life and then just … letting it go. Character development.
@user_91 reblogged:
he’s not a public figure anymore so yeah this is the right call
@originalfollower_2026 reblogged:
been following this blog since the first post. Wild ride. But you’re right. Time to let it go.
@hockey-conspiracies replies:
thanks everyone. it’s been real. Time to move on to new mysteries (just kidding) (mostly)
Shane is reading through some of the social media posts on his laptop, laughing quietly.
“They spent ten years theorizing about us,” he says to Ilya, who’s reading over his shoulder.
“I know. I’ve been following it too.” Ilya kisses his neck. “That Tumblr person was surprisingly accurate.”
“Should we ever tell people?”
“Why? Let them wonder. We know the truth. That’s all that matters.”
“Ten years of conspiracy theories though.”
“Better than ten years of actual knowledge. This way, we got to live our lives in peace.”
Shane closes the laptop and turns to look at Ilya — older now, some gray in his hair, but still the same intense, possessive man Shane fell in love with fifteen years ago.
“No regrets?” Shane asks.
“None. You?”
“Not a single one.”
They kiss, and somewhere on the internet, someone is probably still theorizing about Shane Hollander’s mysterious private life.
But Shane and Ilya don’t care.
They have each other, they have their privacy, and they have the rest of their lives to spend together.
The conspiracy theories can continue forever.
The truth is theirs alone.
And that’s exactly how they want it.
