Chapter Text
Most people think that being stared down by a man twice your size and with enough money to create a Scrooge McDuck style money pool. And as much as Alex would love to take a swan dive of asshole’s massive nose into that sweet money pool, Alex would like to get as much money as they can from this sick son of a bitch. That was one of Alex’s favourite parts of the job, being able to create their own price on their own product is incredibly satisfying, being able to change those prices depending on the type of customer that was talking to Alex. So, when a rich asshole came in, they could charge the most egregious prices they can think of with their limited knowledge 1880’s currency.
“I told you good sir, it is 50 pounds!” Alex mocks. Putting on their best posh British accent, which isn’t that good all things considered, they may have been in this god forsaken place for a little under two years, but they refuse to give up one of the parts of them from their old life. They may look closer to what is expected of feminine people in this time period. But they refuse to change how they talk, as much trouble it typically gets in trouble.
The man seems to choke on his own spit, face turning an impressive shade of red as he seems to rack his limited neurons for something to reply with.
“The lady that was before me was only charged a Pound!” He hisses out, his fuzzy white moustache puffing up like it had a life of it’s on.
“Didn’t you read the sign outside? There is a rich folk tax! If you have the money for it, you will pay for it!” Alex stops their rant for a second. A smirk appearing on their face as they look up from their long eyelashes up to the asshole in front of them.
“Unless you can’t afford it of course?” They knew they had him as the moustache man’s face seems to go through an impressive amount of colours in a short period of time. Men like him easy to predict, even from their own time getting underneath the skin of men with small egos and smaller pricks was incredibly entertaining. A small bag is slammed down the old counter, the coins rattling pleasantly as he snatches the small vials from Alex’s hands.
A Satisfied smirk makes its way onto Alex’s face as they grab the bag, throwing it softly with one palm. Chuckling quietly as the man stomps out angrily. A satisfied hum leaves the idiot’s lips as the toss the bag of coins into the pocket in the front of their apron, the soft jingle of the coins lifts up their mood even more as they happily go around the shop, doing a piss poor attempt at looking busy.
Alex doesn’t really understand how they have coped so well with the fact they have been sent back hundreds of years in the past. They think if they got sent back normally, with nothing on them. Like the way its usually done in Isekai stories, they would be coping a whole lot less. But lucky for them. They actually had time to process this before it all happened.
Alex doesn’t fully what happened the day before they came here, let alone the week or anything else. Memory hasn’t always really been their strong suit. All that rly comes to mind was the smell of salt as water runs down their checks. Maybe it was a gruelling day at work or maybe another fight with their family. They don’t fully know.
All they remember is the sadness, so they open their laptop, covered in long faded stickers of fandoms they’re not in anymore. They don’t even remember what they were going to do on there, but as the laptop booted up. A sinking feeling started to grow in their chest. Slowly the feeling started to spread. Numbing their body as the feeling continued to grow and get more uncomfortable and scary. Alex tried to take a deep breath, to help try and relieve the growing discomfort. Alex finds themselves unable to take that breathe. Their throat seeming to close up as the discomfort turns into a cold numbness, rendering the limbs useless.
Fear overtakes Alex’s mind. Thoughts flying uselessly though their head. They where terrified, more terrified than they have been in a long time. Alex couldn’t seem to understand what the hell was going on. They don’t have any allergies that would lead to this feeling, so the confusion and the fear just continue to grow.
Alex’s vision started to blur, the edges of their vision starting to darken as bright white stars also start to dot their vision. The last thing they remember is the bright white of their laptop as they felt their head bang against the old worn-out desk.
Alex shakes their head. Trying to let go of the memories of their old life. Deciding to properly try and focus on the task at hand, so then they don’t have to get up earlier to deal with their laziness from the night before. Working to be more lazy is one of the best things for them.
A firm but polite knock sounds on the door. Alex’s eyes furrow, its around dinner time and it’s very rare for people to come around this time of night. They must have forgotten to swing around the sign to say close. Wiping their hands clean on their old apron they make their way towards the door, grumbling too themselves about having to deal with more people when they have already started to wind down for the night.
They open the door, very happy to tell the annoying visitors very passive aggressively to kindly fuck off. Alex comes face to face with a very well-dressed chest. A impeccable suit fills their vision. Made out of a stunning dark fabric, seemingly starting to glimmer in the foggy setting sun. A feeling of dread seems to fill Alex as they slowly look, they notice a very familiar crest pinned to the upper right lapel.
Finally, Alex’s eyes meet the mans in front of them. And they feel themselves freeze with pure fear and realisation. Burgundy eyes stare down at Alex coolly, no trace of human life in them. Alex quickly looks down to either of the man’s sides. Praying that this is just a coincidence and not what they suspect. They halt when their eyes finally land on the small child next to him. A single bright blue angry eye staring up at Alex. The other eye covered in a very noticeable eye-patch.
“Good evening, Ma’am, we apologise fo- “. The man is cut off as Alex slams the door as hard as they can in the two men’s faces. An offended squawk comes from the short- No from Ciel behind the now closed door.
Alex leans against the door and slowly slide down onto the floor, hugging their knees to their chest as they start to hyperventilate. Everything has gone wrong. They have slowly gotten used to the fact that they have gone back in time, hell, they are dealing with it a lot better than most people would be.
But they draw the line at being in a stupid ass Isekai. Not only did Alex seem to go back in time, they have seemed to be transported to one of their oldest but favourite stories. Black Butler, the worst part of this all is now that Alex knows Sebastian and Ciel are aware of them existing. There goes their peaceful life, and potentially their life in general.
