Chapter Text
The sight of a Lannister was enough to make Visenya want to vanish, Aemond knew her well and decided it was time to pull away for another dance together. Aegon, unaware as he was, rolled his eyes and mumbled something about sickening love birds but it only made his wife giggle and step away with Aegon to procure more wine.
Jason Lannister looked annoyed that she slipped away, his intention of gauging what the odds were of marrying one of his kin off to her despite her courtship to Aemond Targaryen gone. It was a thought amongst all the nobles still wanting a piece of that Blood of the Dragon, that slim chance one of their own may sit on the Iron Throne someday.
After all, they were only courting and not betrothed right off the bat as was normal in the royal family.
Aemond was rather sick of that thought in the back of his mind, he decided it was time to put an end to it once and for all.
“You, choosing to dance?” Visenya smiled, her eyes full of love just for him leaving the scarred man resisting the urge to crush her to himself and never let go. “I thought it better than dealing with a whining Lion.” Visenya giggled, the sound like bells in his ears even after all these years. No matter how much time passed, Aemond never forgot the things she did for him, the way she looked at him like no one ever had.
Every now and then their mother looked at him with eyes of love, but not like Visenya.
“I had a thought.” Aemond began, Visenya raised a delicate white brown, eyes of lavender sparkling thoughtfully. “That perhaps it was time to make certain that everyone knows you and I belong together.” Visenya looked both happy and confused, naturally the two had been inseparable the entire evening, danced and drank together. What else would prove that? All eyes were on Visenya, and thus also Aemond.
His head dipped down to capture her sweet lips in a kiss that had the room enthralled. Viserys himself laughed and clapped, eliciting the room to do the same. Otto Hightower looked pleased, and while Alicent tried to as well, she could not help the moment's hesitation of glancing at her father before looking towards Rhaenyra and Daemon. The latter looked more amused while Rhaenyra was clearly putting on a show of support for her daughter because she had to, it would look poorly upon her to frown upon their union in such a public celebration.
Visenya smiled into the kiss, slipping her arms around her lover's neck to hold onto him for all to see. He squeezed her waist in response, slowly they pulled away. It was unspoken but she understood, he was going to make sure they were the delight of the realm just as their mother is as the first female heir to the throne.
Then, they would never be apart again.
“Well, there goes any chance of another suitor trying for her hand.” Rhaenyra sighed yet she did not look as upset as she may have been years ago. Admittedly, seeing her child so happy did bring her joy. Daemon had helped bring her over, reminding them of their own affection when they were younger.
It seemed to run in the family.
“I know you cannot help but worry for her, so do I, but you and I know better than any of those cunts that Visenya is not one to be trifled with.” Daemon whispered amongst the cheers as the couple broke from their sweet kiss, his wife smirked, just a tiny quirk of the lips and nodded.
“You did train her to be more than a lady.” She drawled and Daemon smirked himself.
“Can you blame me? She took to weaponry like a child of a knight should.” Rhaenyra felt a twinge of guilt, just for a moment, but hoped that Laenor was enjoying whatever sinful delights he had found in his freedom. He had tried to be close to Visenya, but Rhaenyra always thought it scared him.
Being a father, it was easier with the boys because they were not his own. She wondered if he feared that Visenya would break or something silly of the like.
“That she did...” Her gaze trailed to Alicent by her father's side, guarded by Ser Cole.
Perhaps, unintentionally, my daughter will mend our broken bonds....
The scar on her arm itched, Rhaenyra disregarded it when a friendly Noble came to speak to them to congratulate them on what looked like a happy couple.
“I suspect this will mean your proposal will have to be as grand as this celebration.” Helaena teased her brother when they returned from dancing, surprisingly enough Visenya saw Luke and Jace there as well and not fighting with Aegon, who was more or less still sober.
Maybe less.
“Not at all.” Visenya cooed, her arm looped around Aemond as he eyed the brothers warily and let his woman speak for him. “I needn’t anything so grand, just us and our love.” She smiled and her eldest brother briefly looked like he wanted to be sick but straightened himself up when Luke nudged him in the side.
“I came to properly congratulate you sister... And to say I am glad that you have found yourself happy with Uncle Aemond.” They were all shocked, Aegon’s head whipped around so fast it was a wonder he didn’t break it. His lips parted, comical amusement on his face but Helaena squeezing his arm kept him from saying anything that would certainly ruin the moment.
Aemond’s lips parted, his brows furrowed, he wondered what in the hell was going on and if there was suddenly going to be a pig served in front of them.
Visenya smiled as bright as the sun, leaning into Aemond happily. “Thank you, brother, that means the world to me!” She noted that their betrothed were not present, likely with their grandmother or father, but tiny steps.
Tiny steps were all she needed.
“Thank you, Nephews, your support is quite welcome.” Aemond hummed after some stunned silence and ignoring Aegon’s expression of hilarity. He wanted to laugh too, because they would not be doing this if not for Visenya’s consistent cold shoulder and the obvious fact that they not approving was not stopping their love.
But Aemond was now thinking about how he wished to go about proposing to Visenya, he would need to before his father died to ensure the marriage was approved and that no one would contest it.
“Of course.” Jace did look uncomfortable, but he smiled, and looking down at Luke Visenya could tell that he was trying to help her. She smiled at him gratefully, and was more than happy to take the win.
“Alright, enough of this sappy crap, it is my dear Niece’s special name-day and for that, she should be drunk by now. More wine!” Aegon sauntered off to collect another glass and Visenya hid her giggles behind her hand at Aemond’s look of annoyance. Helaena sighed but smiled all the same.
“A dance of peace between the dragons.” She whispered, no one heard over the chatter in the great hall and Aemond, closest to her, was still caught in a daydream of proposal ideas.
