Chapter Text
"Mom!! Mommy!! Tell Kacchan and me about daddy!! Pleeeease!?"
Katsuki had sat through this story more times than he'd like to admit, but he found that he wasn't able to say no to the Midoriyas. They took him in when he and mom had fought so he didn't have to sleep outside. Auntie says that's dangerous for five-year-olds.
"Alright dear, just one more for today. We met on a sunny day, it was like a furnace outside"
Katsuki grumbles as he exits the egg.
Stupid goddamn idiots know nothing about the nerd.
What kind of adult in their right mind would put children in charge of this? They could've started the apocalypse or some shit.
He shoves his hands in his pockets and takes a look around.
Man this place brings back memories.
On that park bench, he knocked Deku's All Might figure out of his hand...
In that park, he pushed Deku off of the swings.
At that picnic table, he threw a shoe at the back of Deku's head.
All for the greater good, of course, but in the end it was futile. The bastard became a hero anyway. And a great one at that.
Obviously, since he just went back in time to before he was even born.
He sneaks around a snow cone stand quietly, much to the stand worker's chagrin.
Looking at the sign of an ice cream shop he spots what he's looking for.
"It was so hot, in fact, that I couldn't see straight."
He enters the store and fishes through his pockets for his wallet, pulling out the oldest yen he can find so he doesn't look suspicious.
The shopkeeper squints at him like he's someone familiar, but Katsuki tries to ignore the fact that this man will later become his uncle.
He nods, the man nods back.
He's asked what he wants, and he points to it.
"Ah, a fine choice. I only have one coupon left as it so happens.
Fucking good.
"Your dad happened to be on the beach that day, trying to find a birthday present for his older brother."
Katsuki mills around while he waits for his order, scuffing his shoes and periodically snapping his gaze up to the youngest Bakugo brother.
Maybe he'll visit when he gets back.
"Alright! One lychee blast and a free $15 coupon for my shop! Enjoy your day!"
Bakugo nods and opens the door, a gust of hot wind blasting him square in the face.
Part of his ice cream falls, but it's not like he was going to eat it anyway.
(Yes, yes he was.)
He holds onto the stiff paper tight and waits for them to arrive.
He finishes what's left of his ice cream cone and throws his napkin in the trash just as the white compact car pulls up to the beachside parking lot.
Time to destroy my pride.
Inko Midoriya steps out, long hair tied back in a loose ponytail and large black sunglasses perched on the bridge of her nose.
Bakugo whips his head the other way just in time to see Midoriya Hisashi stepping out of the sports shop, two plastic back in hand.
They're walking right to each other without even realizing the significance of this moment.
Bakugo decides he's had enough of this sappy bullshit today.
He waits until
"We ended up bumping into each other, literally!"
"Oh my gosh I'm so sorry, are you okay??" Inko pushes herself up from where she had fallen on the stranger's chest. Her sunglasses crooked on her nose.
"I broke one of his presents, but he didn't tell me for years. I would've felt so bad."
"Oh it's no problem, I'm okay."
It's hard to tell if Inko's blush was from the heat or her guilt, but Katsuki knows better.
And just as Inko helps her future husband off the ground, he springs into action.
"But this nice boy came up to us-
"Hello!!" Katsuki puts on the brightest smile he can imagine and holds out the coupon, "I just went to buy some ice cream, and the owner gave me this. It's a lovely thought but I actually don't live here, and you two seem like a cute couple, why not give this to you!" He grins, waving the coupon in front of the slightly, "It's a great day for ice cream!"
-and asked if we wanted his coupon. He was very persuasive, reminded me a little of you, Katsuki!" She boops him on his tiny nose, he pouts.
"Oh! We're not-" Inko gestures frantically between the two of them, "We don't- I don't know-" She sighs and bows her head, Hisashi snatches the coupon out of Katsuki's hand.
"Thank you, we'll enjoy this." He gives a shallow bow and turns to Inko, holding out his arm for her. "Care for some ice cream miss?"
Inko's face is flushed beyond belief, and she opens her mouth, but closes soon enough and loops her own arm around his.
"And then we went on our very first date!! I was smitten right off the bat, of course, your father is very handsome. We only dated for nine months before he proposed. "
Katsuki almost smiled as he watched his future antie and uncle walk into the ice cream shop.
"All thanks to that boy. I never even got his name." Inko sighs wistfully, "Crazy how someone you don't know can have such an impact on your life. But he got me my husband and the cutest son-" She pinches Izuku's cheeks, who cries out in embarrassment, "so I can't be all that upset in the end. I hope one day I meet him again."
Mission accomplished.
