Marinette saw Cerise pick up the knife and trace the tip of it, expression twisting. Her finger came away red and slightly pricked.
Marinette’s brows shot to the sky and she gasped at the display. Had Cerise pressed into it deliberately to…?
“Hey! What are you—”
“Ow!” Cerise yelped, the knife clattering to the floor, “Wow, that's sharp!"
Marinette grabbed her arm in a panic, but that strange smile greeted her when she looked up. It's like Cerise had gotten exactly what she wanted. But that couldn't be it, right?
She held up her finger to Marinette's, which was now just as mangled.
"We match, at least," She said softly, deadly soft.
Marinette is left scrambling after a long-coming confession to Adrien goes completely sideways. Isolated and reeling from the fallout, who better suited to come to her rescue than the darkness that lurks in her shadow? -

"What were you even doing?" said Coco, as she replaced the faulty fluid line with a new one. "This isn't normal stress damage. If I didn't know any better, I'd think you were trying to do something evil again, even though I've told you not to."
"Nothing," said Nina.
"Uh-huh." Coco bent down and opened a drawer with the speed and ease of someone who was working on pure muscle memory. Nothing in her workshop was labelled; there were cupboards and filing cabinets and crates all over, more than should be possible for anyone to keep track of, but at least for this particular need she knew exactly where to find it. She popped back up only three seconds later, holding two coils and three gears of various sizes. "You'll have to try harder than that."

Just for a moment, Alya seemed speechless, her eyes as wide as the hallway was long. “You’re really going to start to believe her now?”
Marinette sighed. “It’s not her I believe. I just… I don’t think she could manage all… this if it was fake. And besides… me, her emergency contact? That’s too bizarre to be a lie.” Even more than that, it was too bizarre to be true. So what could Lila possibly hope to achieve?
“I’m not sure I agree with you,” said Alya. “But I’m not gonna let you go this alone. And I’m pulling you away if I smell anything cooking.”
The thing was, Marinette wasn’t sure she agreed with herself. Nothing made sense. Even just knowing more would help settle the tumult in her brain, which felt like it had been speeding up almost imperceptibly for every door she’d passed through since the balcony.

Marinette suddenly learns that she's saved as Lila's emergency contact on her phone... the same day she learns that Lila has been in a fatal accident. She is then pulled through a week of responsibilities and discoveries she never imagined having before, and a growing fondness for someone she once hated.
