Summary
Steve is tired. He didn't ask to be pulled out of the ice, he didn't ask to live in 2010s New York City, and he sure didn't ask to fight aliens that came out of a giant wormhole in the sky. So once the aliens are gone and it appears the world will keep spinning, he buys a ranch in the middle of nowhere Montana, and tells Nick Fury to only call if they come back.
Then HYDRA reappears (or has been there all along?) and his best friend who is also possibly maybe just a little bit the great love of his life who fell hundreds of feet out of a moving train to his death 70 years ago shows up, gun drawn, at his front door.
No rest for the wicked, I guess.

Summary
Bucky has mixed feelings about Captain America. It’s a facade, really. The man in front of him looks like his Stevie, blue eyes brightening as they take him in, the familiar quirk of his lips. His face is fuller, no longer haunted by even the slightest breeze, no more bags under his eyes or the sickly pale skin. His body is bigger, he’s taller. Muscle is corded around his arms which were once as thick as a sapling. Bucky has loved Steve in every form, when they were kids, when he was caring for him during the long Brooklyn winters when he wasn’t sure if Steve was going to take another breath, when they moved into their own apartment together. Bucky has loved every part of him, his stubborn, cunning and beautiful Stevie. And he continues to love Steve.
