Not tonight, her inner voice repeats when Lena doesn’t share a look of exasperation with her as Kelly and Alex do their victory dance after acing yet another round of Charades.
Not tonight, the mantra echoes in her head every single time Lena thinks nobody’s watching and looks down at her own glass of wine before taking a measured sip, closing eyes that are so sad, Kara could see the loss of an entire world reflected into them.

Summary
Kara opens the latch on the window but takes a moment to look back at a lazily stretching Lena Luthor tangled in her purple sheets, looking too much like a morning after than an innocent sleepover amongst friends. Lena quite deliberately pulls her bottom lip between her teeth as she smiles at the unmoving hero a few feet away. Kara’s mouth goes dry, her head light and fuzzy.
Rao she’s so beautiful.

When she first heard about their death she paid no mind to it. Over the years the rumors had killed the Luthor's countless times, and every time it was discredited within a week. So she rolls her eyes at the old man sipping cheap vodka and smelling of sweat in the stool next to her at Winn's bar, and chugs her beer exchanging a knowing grin with her friend behind the bar like it's a shared joke.

Alex and Kelly are already home when she arrives, both their cars parked side by side in the double driveway. Kara leaves hers underneath a three in the curb, right in front of their house, the front porch light is out but she can see shapes in the low light of the kitchen.
"Everything okay?" she asks from the room's threshold, leaning against the wall.
Her sister turns to look at her, her expression similar to Kelly's, only more haunted; Hollow eyes and pale cheeks.
"The Luthors are dead."
