He tripped. Shane Hollander fucking tripped. And his freshly outed relationship is front and center again, because of course, Ilya scored the goal as a result, and won the series, knocking the Voyageurs out of the playoffs.
He expected anger, he expected frustration. But he didn't expect the accusations that were all to quickly hurled his way. And suddenly, he doesn't feel like keeping his head down and just taking it. Who the hell are they to accuse him of throwing a game?Or, the Voyageurs are assholes and Shane is done with every single one of them. He let's them know exactly what he thinks of them, and exactly who they just pissed off.

Harris Drover is the happiest he's ever been. He has a hot hockey-player boyfriend and a job he loves, but when a video gets leaked of Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander kissing, this social media manager has his work cut out for him.
He also feels everything really deeply, and this particular situation weighs on him more than things normally do.
This story starts the morning the FanMail video was leaked, and follows Harris through the rest of The Long Game timeline. We get some cute domestic Harris and Troy moments.
Chapter One references "The Story" by Brandi Carlile, so I'd highly recommend listening to it if you haven't.
Shane POV vignette "So Does God" fits in between chapters one and two.

Shane wants to figure out if he's gay before he gets drafted—and no, the way he felt when Ilya Rozanov smirked at him with a cigarette between his lips in Saskatchewan has nothing to do with it. Unfortunately, the random guy he hooks up with to try and make sure one way or another takes a picture, and Shane gets outed before the draft. In the ensuing scandal, he goes seventh overall, to Ottawa.
It turns out, having the worst thing you can think of happen to you when you're seventeen years old can end up being pretty liberating. And land you an unexpected best friend.
