Summary

Andrew can't stop replaying the memory, pushing on it like a bruise. He wants the sick sort of pain that proves that actually, he can still feel things. It's fresh — barely a few hours old.
If he closes his eyes, Andrew can put himself back there. Back under the glare of the fluorescent lights humming above them in the locker room, the roar of the crowd getting fainter as the stadium empties. His own heart thumping too fast as the adrenaline of the game bleeds out, leaving only exhaustion behind.
Neil's lips, chapped and cherry-red, making sounds too soft for the harsh moment.
"We can't keep doing this," Neil had said. He wasn't able to look Andrew in the eye. "I just… we don't want the same things."
