Kaeya Alberich, 23, is in a tight spot. The life of a Dancer really does not pay the bills, and since the Big Disastrous Fight with his brother - if he still can call Diluc that - Kaeya can't exactly rely on the family money to get by.
It's one ridiculously hot summer day, when Kaeya is lying on the floor of his dingy apartment, melting into the floorboards because of course his AC is broken (what isn't?), that he receives a phone call asking if he's interested in becoming a surrogate for quite an affluential couple haling from Liyue.
Desperate and a bit delirious, Kaeya agrees to a meeting with the couple.

Stricter laws for their protection, huh? Though Mondstadt wasn't the worst place to be an omega, their voices were often smothered under the privilege of alphas.

Ch 23 Had he stayed, he wouldn't have repaired his relationship with his brother, he would never have found out about who his father truly was, and he would never have admitted to himself that he'd been chasing a dead woman's dream for most of his life, in hopes to someday making her proud, even though she wouldn't be there to witness it. He finally got the professional help he'd needed so bad, help that he might have never gotten should he have remained in Liyue with Ajax and Zhongli.
He'd learned that love wasn't a cure-all, that he needed to love himself first, to then be able to fully love others, after. That was still a work in progress, but he knew he was doing better. He was starting to see the value in himself as an individual.
At the same time, he'd deprived himself of watching his baby grow for the first few months of his life. And those were months he would never get back, if he ever had the chance to meet with him again one day.
