He’s so… effortlessly kind and encouraging, and he’s there for Shuichi, without ever asking for anything in return, and for a moment Shuichi wants to grab Kaito’s hand with both of his and say, You know it’s not just Akamatsu-san, right? I couldn’t have done this without you, either.

“Thank you, Momota-kun,” Shuichi says, very quietly, and Kaito grins, ruffling his hair before he turns to head into the classroom.
