Summary
Should he go to Malkin’s room? He didn’t know what the customs were in Russia; it would be a shame to err in some way and get off to a bad start on the very first evening of their marriage.

Summary
Jen didn’t say anything to him until they were seated in her office with the door closed. Then she sighed and said, “Sid, you called Bertuzzi a bloodsucker.”
“What? No I didn’t,” Sid protested. “I called him a cocksucker.”
“That’s worse,” Jen said. “Don’t tell anyone that.”

Summary
“I think I’m going to get into birding,” Sid said.
Zhenya was sitting on his balcony with his laptop on the side table, eating a burger and watching seagulls squabble on the riprap. “What’s birding,” he said absently, as one gull lifted its wings overhead, raised its rear end, and took a stringy white shit.

Summary
At the other tables, their teammates talked and ate, laughed, rubbed their eyes, yawned, sipped coffee, were alive. Everything was normal. It was a normal morning before practice. Sid was going to dinner with Geno that evening, and after that he’d probably get laid. Tomorrow they’d play the Jets. Everything was fine.
“I hate fucking Winnipeg,” Sid said.
Geno grinned. “Yes, same.”

Summary
Zhenya hadn’t wanted to move into Sid’s house. He liked his own house, with its grand curving staircase and the big yard and the woods beyond. Sid’s neighbors were too close and his house was too professionally designed and decorated. It lacked character, although the pool was a plus.

Summary
“You can see the future,” Sid said when he cornered Geno after practice the next day.
Geno shrugged. “Not me. Birds see. I only watch them. Most stuff they don’t tell me, anyway.”
“Yeah, but, I mean—” Sid pulled up, lost for words. “Geno.”

Summary
Andy shrugged. “It’s not that. And you should stay. But we should talk. Sid and I—”
It was him saying Sid and I that did it. Andy said Sid and I, and it didn’t just dawn on Nate that Andy and Sid were fucking: moreso the realization slammed into him like a truck doing one-twenty down the highway.
“You’re fucking,” he said, like an idiot.
“Yeah, I mean, we’re married, so,” Andy replied. “I guess, yeah. We’re fucking.”

Summary
Geno only lets Alex make him a Grindr profile that summer because Alex is still upset about Maria, because Alex's grin has a kind of manic, brittle quality that makes Geno sigh and hand over his cell phone with only a token protest.

Summary
Sid’s expression turns inward for a moment. When he meets Zhenya’s eyes again his face is still bright red, but he looks determined too.
“Well, I guess I owe you,” he says. “I mean, I got a picture of you this evening. So.”

Summary
“I’m decide what I want,” he said, setting the marred remains of the apple down on the counter, “for bet.”
“Oh, yeah?” Sid asked, angling in a little, just enough that his hip brushed Geno’s arm. He’d been waiting and he was endlessly curious. What kind of thing took a whole week to come up with?
