Summary
Ilya hadn't responded for several hours. Just before warm ups, at the last possible second, Ilya had sent two photos.
The first was the nightstand beside Shane's bed, where his boring hockey book and sexy glasses sat arranged with a strip of condoms and the bottle of lube. The second was Ilya's suitcase open on the floor.Shane had seen it. He had told Ilya, when he'd skated up to him during stretches, that leaving the suitcase open there was a tripping hazard. Ilya had laughed him back to the Metros bench.
He wasn't laughing now.
OR: Shane gave Ilya the code to his condo before the game. With Shane hospitalized and his status uncertain, Ilya embarks on a quest to get his stuff back.

Summary
The next hour is kind of awful.
Hayden's brain keeps turning up worst case scenarios (he's sick, he's still too injured to play, he's been traded to LA, he's requested a move to Boston because he got Lily pregnant out of wedlock). Shane is wearing his media-smile. Jackie is doing all the heavy lifting, conversation wise, and clearly peeved at Hayden for not being chill about whatever talk Shane wants to have after this.
OR: Shane is dating Ilya Rozanov, which is better and worse than what Hayden was expecting.

JJ didn't think the others saw it. Hayden, maybe, but Jackie was the only WAGs's name Shane had committed to memory so Hayden never brought it up. JJ didn't have a wife or girlfriend. He had his hookups and the names of the best restaurants in each city they player in. If JJ had a dog, Shane would probably mix its name up with Drapeau's. The others didn't get that however pathetic or sad they might think Shane, Shane thought the same of them tenfold when they missed shots at practice or ate fast food on weekdays. Shane wasn't being prissy or funny when he said, don't embarass me—JJ still doesn't know exactly what it was, but he doesn't care to find out.
Shane had poured everything into his team (possessively: it was his team) and he asked them to give it back that day, so they delivered. When Shane smiled at them afterwards, it felt like love.

Ilya wakes up confused. He’s pretty sure he fell asleep at home, in bed, with Shane fast asleep in his arms, but he wakes up on a flat surface with a pinch in his lower back. Had he fallen off the bed in the middle of the night? Neither he nor Shane move much in their sleep, but he supposes it isn’t impossible.
He levers himself up on one hand, stretching out his back slightly as he sits up. He’s definitely not in his bedroom anymore. The room he’s in is large and full of bulky hockey players spread out across the floor. Their soft groans and quiet questions begin to filter in his ears as they wake up as well. He sees some players he knows are on the Voyageurs, some of his own teammates, some coaching staff, and even some WAGs like Jackie Pike and Cassie Boodram. But the most important person in the room is laid out next to him, face slack and peaceful with sleep.
“Shane,” Ilya urges, shaking him. “Shane, wake up.”

“Why did you have to go and get traded?! You realise we’re going to have to see each other every day from now on, and play together, and-”
“Yes,” Ilya interrupted. He didn’t want to know how long Hollander’s list was. “I know.”
Hollander took a deep breath. “Okay, listen,” he said. “Just so we’re clear - we don’t know each other outside of playing against each other, right?”
“Right.”
“And we can’t- can’t hook up anymore.”

OR: Ilya gets traded to Montreal in October 2014. He's lonely, and angry, and he misses Boston. He doesn't know if it helps that Hollander is there or not.
