Years later he calls her a few times a week, never saying a word, but listening to her talk about her day to the stranger on the phone. Until he's dying in an alleyway. He calls her like every other time, but he speaks for the first time since he started calling... to say goodbye. And he hangs up before she ever gets a word in. It's poetic in a way, he thinks, for their roles to have switched for their last call.
