He sits back, directing Mina's legs over his thighs so that he can wrap her up in a little ball, shielding her from the world. “I am so sorry, my sweet girl,” he murmurs. “Is okay. I have you.” He holds her to his chest, one arm curled around her back, the other around the tops of her shins.
His heart aches in his chest at the sound of her sobbing and sniffles. He hates this. His perfect baby should never have to feel heartbreak, even if it’s a thing that every human experiences. He wishes he could shelter her from every kind of pain, as unrealistic as that may be.
