Summary
Draco Malfoy had never planned on starting a resistance movement.
He had, admittedly, planned on surviving fifth year with his family's reputation intact, his Inquisitorial Squad badge pinned on straight, and his opinions about Dolores Umbridge kept firmly to himself. That plan lasted until September, when he found a Slytherin and a Gryffindor first-year crying behind a suit of armour with I must not tell lies carved into one of their hands, and discovered inconveniently, at the worst possible time, that he still had a conscience.
So he did the only sensible thing available to a fifteen-year-old with a badge he didn't want and no one safe left to tell: he wrote an anonymous letter to the Weasley twins, sealed it in green wax, and offered them an alliance.
(They worked out it was him almost immediately. The wax, apparently, was "a bit of a giveaway.")
