Together they watched the panel tick up to the 21st floor. Some part of them both knew to brace. Sure enough, the elevator jolted to a sudden stop. This time, since they were both ready, Clark didn’t end up pressed against him.
(Bruce tried not to dwell on his faint, stupid disappointment.)
“I’m getting a deep sense of déjà vu,” Bruce said, eyebrows raised.
“Probably a time loop,” Clark agreed.
Or, Brucie Wayne and Clark Kent get caught in a time loop while stuck in an elevator, and find themselves with only two options: trust each other or stay stuck forever.

Clark might not feel uncomfortable, but the cave is not just cold, no, it’s closer to penguins might thrive cold, and of course Bruce is there, bent over his computer with his suit on, lacking the cowl and the heavy cape. He didn’t even wash his eyegrease off, and Clark can smell the acidic sweat of sickness clinging to his body. And he is sure there’s no need for superpowers, anyone close enough could smell it, it’s so thick.
“Oh, Bruce.” He sighs again, getting closer to the stubborn, stubborn man he loves so much. “You idiot.”
“Good to see you too.” Bruce replies, with a voice so scratchy he sounds like he is actively chewing on broken glass. Jesus.

His mouth snaps shut so fast it’s audible. Immediately, his hand flies up to his face, eyes widening as he tries—and fails—to force his jaw open.
Whatever protest he tries to voice comes out muffled behind his closed mouth.
Or, Suguru is hit with a cursed technique that forces him to obey any command and answer every question truthfully.

Something is—“Shoko,” Suguru’s voice is small. He’s unable to hide the quiver behind his words, and spit pools inside his mouth. “Where’s Satoru?”
Despite himself, he slowly turns his head so that he’s gazing down at Shoko, and the sight of her blank, unimpressed expression causes dread so severe to churn his insides that he feels dizzy.
Her mouth opens.
“Who?”
Wrong.
Waking up to a world free of curses, Suguru should have everything he's ever wanted— except there's the nagging absence of his best friend, Satoru.
