“I”m on the beach with some friends,” Alysa says, and Amber can hear it now, the faint rush of the ocean, the echo of chatter.
“I don’t want to interrupt…” she says and Alysa laughs like it’s the most ridiculous thing Amber could’ve ever said.
“Baby, I’ve been thinking about you all day,” she murmurs and Amber actually presses her hand to her forehead and screws her eyes shut, grinning at no one as her stomach flutters.
“Me too,” she admits.
“And knowing how you looked tonight didn’t help,” Alysa admits, her voice lower now and Amber whines. “Mmm, is that why you called me? You get all worked up knowing all those people were watching you?”
