Summary
After months of being ghosted by Ilya, Shane gets horrible news about his health. At the age of 23 he gets diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He is supported by his friends and family and yet he cannot stop thinking of his rival. But he and Ilya have never been more disconnected, so he resigns himself to fighting this without Ilya in his life.
Ilya knows he was an asshole last Spring. Shane has been ignoring him all summer. But he figures that once he's back in North America and the season starts, he'll be able to get back in Shane's good graces. And then Montreal announces that they have placed Shane Hollander on LTIR and he panics.

Summary
The Voyageurs are playing Oklahoma City at home tonight, and Ilya has been ignoring it, because he has his own game to win. But he looks up on instinct, sees the collision, in slow-motion instant replay, the inexorable crashing of two heavily padded bodies into each other and the boards and the ice, blood seeping out from underneath number 24, and he thinks "that's not the kind of thing you walk away from."
Shane goes down. Ilya tries to help him back up.
