It wasn’t as if Patroclus wasn’t talking to him, was mean to him or he deprived him of his attention, which would be the worst in all of those things; no, he was the exact opposite of all those things. He was perfect in every single aspect, he was everything anyone could want from a partner.
Yet it did not stop Achilles from feeling like he was watching a one-man-theatre when he was talking to him.
Achilles is worried about his relationship with Patroclus, his worries come true.

The bond was accidental. Well, not entirely. For years Wriothesley craved such a connection. They’d talked about it. Shared cycles, and sweet words of love, broaching the idea of it—but the timing was never right, and Neuvillette was far too busy to take time off to allow a bond to settle.
They’ve always done things backwards, though. By the time Neuvillette bared his neck and begged for it, Wriothesley realized there was already a bond in place. That’d they’d been attuned to each other for longer than they realized, and it never even took a damn bite for it to sink into their beings.
Which, well, that was embarrassing. No wonder no one could look them in the eye.
Neuvillette tells Wriothesley that he thinks they were fated for each other.
