Summary
Wei Wuxian, full-time space explorer and part-time smuggler (it turns out that the science doesn’t pay that well, not when you have to pay for the upkeep of your ship), runs into some trouble with the Wen, and while running away from the Wen enforcers, he makes an emergency landing (crashes) on a small unregistered planet in the Outer Reaches.
Lan Wangji has been raised to be a perfect Lan, serving his clan and supporting his brother. But he has always felt that something was missing in his life, and he has been prone to turning his gaze up to the skies. The peculiar stranger with a bright smile may be his answer.

Summary
Lan Wangji, the prized omega of the Lan sect, falls into enemy hands when he tries to defend his sect brothers and sisters during an attack on Cloud Recesses. They are dragged to Qishan, but on the way, the Wen soldiers make the mistake of wandering into the Wei sect territory. Wei Wuxian notices something strange about the rose petal. A discolouration, almost. It’s so easy to miss, so easy to overlook. He rubs it between his fingers and they come back red.
His heart sinks. “Oh…Lan Zhan…”
“It’s dirty,” Lan Wangji repeats. His own hands are clasped in his lap, fingers tightly knitted. Now that Wei Wuxian knows what to look for, he spots that same shade of red everywhere. On Lan Wangji’s clothes, on those graceful pale hands…
“Lan Zhan, this is serious,” Wei Wuxian says. “You’re—” he glances back down at the red—at the blood—on the petal. “How long has this been going on?”
Lan Wangji hesitates. “A long time.”
