“Alright,” Max murmured. “I’m starting. Harrington. Discuss.”
Will made a happy, breathy sound. “Oh my God,” he whispered. “Steve is so….”
“So what?” Max pressed, already laughing. “Come on, out with it!”
Will sighed. “So, so dreamy.”
Lucas’s shoulder bumped Mike’s.
Max snorted, pleased. “Thank you!”
Will kept going, words spilling out now that he’d started. “It’s the hair and that stupid jacket.” He laughed, then dropped his voice. “Also, he’s got huge hands.”
Mike scowled.
Lucas’ shoulders shook beside him, silent laughter vibrating the floor. He leaned in and whispered, “Huge hands, huh.”
Mike hissed, “Shut up.”
Max, meanwhile, sounded delighted. “He totally does. Also, I saw him a few years ago with his shirt off and, oh my God!”
Mike side-eyed Lucas. From the face he was making, it looked like he didn’t think the situation was so funny anymore. Hmph.
After Stacey’s party, the gang ends up at the Wheeler house for an unplanned sleepover. Mike and Lucas eavesdrop on Max and Will’s “girl talk” and stumble into a confession Mike was never meant to hear.

“Right, sweetheart?” Mike says, and Will nearly chokes on his wine. Sweetheart. Sweetheart?
“Y-yeah," he sputters. “Right.”
Under the table, Mike’s foot nudges his own. They share a look — Mike’s eyes are full of smugness, look how well I’m fooling him, they say, and Will is trying to communicate that he wants to murder Mike.
Will gets invited to a gay art exhibit and brings Mike as his "date" so that his ex, Carlton, won't make advances. But Mike seems to like being Will's fake boyfriend a little bit too much.
