Summary
Ed’s paying attention, all right, to the shape of Stede’s lips around each word, to the way he still looks the most at home when he’s done up to his throat in buttons, frills at his cuffs. His hair’s a bit longer now, nowhere near Ed’s but it curls up at his neck and shines gold as the sun, and there’s always freckles across the bridge of his nose, and his cheeks still go pink every time he catches Ed staring. Ed wouldn’t call him tan, exactly, but he’s lost that never-goes-outside glow for real now, and he keeps threatening to grow a mustache. As if that’s much of a threat, but Ed plays along all the same.
The door shuts heavily behind him, and Ed startles with a grunt. “Oh!” Stede says, muffled behind layers of fabric, “You’re here!” There’s a rustle and then Stede pops out, some of his curls matted to his forehead with sweat and a goofy grin on his face. “Happy Birthday!”
“What,” Ed says flatly, pulling up the calendar in his head. It’s August, it’s Tuesday, weather’s good, moon’s waxing crescent. Then he remembers that he doesn’t know his fucking birthday.

It’s almost comical, that someone’s kidnapped Blackbeard and left him on the floor of a dinghy with only his hands tied. Maybe they mistook his drunkenness for a stupor (as if he’d be so lucky), because he’s fully dressed, gun and knife in place, both the obvious and the hidden ones. And he’s always got his teeth, which is enough if they get close enough.
There’s a month of beard underneath the greasepaint, but maybe the kidnapper really is stupid enough not to realize it’s Blackbeard they’ve got restrained on their little boat. Better to wait, keep them settled in a false sense of security until Blackbeard’s ready to strike. It’s got nothing to do with the way Ed’s head throbs and spins, even with his eyes still squeezed tight.

It’s Thursday, somewhere between early afternoon and early evening and they're killing the time passing a joint back and forth and just hanging out. Jaskier doesn’t get a lot of time to just hang out in between classes and rehearsals and work and gigs and y’know, sleep, but for the past two years, this is it for his Thursday afternoons. They’re not always in a car, not even always at Ciri’s place, but her dad’s out of town and in a twist of rotten fate she and Jaskier both had been dumped in the past few days. Not the same day, at least. And that calls for being really really high, and so they’re here, taking turns ranting about their recent exes.
“-and you know,” Jaskier says, coming to the conclusion before he says it, “I think I was going to marry her.”
Ciri starts coughing mid-hit, which turns almost immediately into giggles. “You were not!” she says, smacking his thigh and resuming her turn.
He allows it. “Well, I thought about it.” Just a few moments ago, but that’s not the point.

Summary
A completely self-indulgent series wherein Geralt and Jaskier get together, raise Ciri, and then retire together to a farm. Plays fast and loose with the timeline, just like canon, and it will probably update sporadically as I am inspired. Or I'll write 10k in 2 weeks, who knows. Also Yennefer is Ciri's mom, deal with it. Largely canon compliant through the first season, except for the fucking.
