Alright then.
Chuck scoffs out a laugh as he twiddles the pen around in the loose grip of his fingers, staring despondently at the droplets of rain that paint the window of his bedroom.
Ruth smiled so bright when she told him, Charles hugging at her small frame from behind, and all Chuck could manage to do was let the corner of his lips twitch into what he hoped was a smile.
Then he excused himself to his bedroom, sending a flurry of punches to his pillow until the feathers snowed around his room, panting wildly, sweat trickling down the side of his face.
Slamming the pillow to his face, he screams, ‘FUCK’ and transitions to beating it again.
