Summary
“You could do, you know,” Aziraphale says, soft-spoken and apropos of absolutely nothing.
They’ve been sitting in the backroom of the shop for hours now in companionable silence, punctuated only by the rustle of old paper as Aziraphale turns the page of what must be his third or fourth novel of the afternoon.
“Could do what, angel?” Crowley drawls easily from where he’s sprawled across the sofa. He doesn’t bother sparing a glance in Aziraphale’s direction, but he can feel the angel’s eyes on him from across the table all the same.
“Look like you run a bookshop.”
Or: nearly a week after the apocalypse that wasn’t, Aziraphale makes a rather surprising suggestion that leads Crowley to question first his sense of style, and then his place in the world.

Summary
As methods of human communication go, spoken words can be quite versatile. For example, when Aziraphale said, “We’re not friends. I don’t even like you,” what he really meant was, “Acknowledging this unspoken thing between us would put us both in mortal danger, and I can’t do that to you. Heaven and Hell must go on thinking us enemies even if nothing could be further from the truth. You’re the dearest thing to me in this entire universe. I can’t lose you.”
What Crowley heard was “We’re not friends. I don’t even like you.”

Aziraphale turned his gaze towards the love of his life, who was currently sat in the chair next to him, reading yesterday's copy of The Guardian in a grey Commodores t-shirt and a black-and-white stripy pair of boxer briefs. "What's your favourite colour?" Aziraphale enquired, breaking the tranquil silence of their breakfast ritual.
Glancing up from his paper, Crowley arched an eyebrow. "Wazzat?"

Summary
Aziraphale makes it to the door in time to see the Bentley scream into view. She slides from one side of the street to the other, traction a thing of the past, and slams her brakes on as she reaches the shop. Instead of slowing gracefully to a halt – not really her thing at the best of times – she spins into an accidental drift that screeches her back wheels around in a wide arc that, for a moment, Aziraphale is sure will end with her halfway through the wall of the pub. Somehow, with a dreadful squealing of metal and rubber, she comes to a halt, skewed halfway across the road and facing the bookshop so that her headlights briefly dazzle Aziraphale’s eyes. For just a moment, everything is still again.
Then the driver’s door opens, and Crowley falls out.
It takes a snowstorm, and a medical emergency, but Aziraphale and Crowley eventually figure out that they can just, y'know, talk.
And do other things.

Summary
After the Second Coming fails to bring about the end of the world, Aziraphale and Crowley are abruptly dumped back on Earth with no miracles, no instructions, and far too much unresolved tension. Also, apparently, a lifespan.
What follows is twenty-four hours of disastrous flirting, horny panic, bad decision-making, and the increasingly undeniable realization that they’re finally allowed to have each other. If they could just figure out how to talk like actual adults — and perhaps come up with a plan before everything becomes catastrophically emotional — this would probably be easy.
