Heisenberg pulled up another chair, letting its legs scrape across the metal floor, then sat on it backwards, leaning his arms on the backrest. He stared at Ethan from beneath the brim of his battered hat. Ethan could barely see his eyes behind the tinted glasses, but what he did see was dementedly focused. They sat in silence for a few moments as Heisenberg studied him. Ethan tried to keep his hands still, thinking about what the Duke said about the engineer: he was the strongest of them, the most dangerous, except for Mother Miranda.
Finally, Heisenberg spoke. “Here’s my offer. A solid for a solid, right? I help you with what you need to do. In exchange, I need help with something. I got… appetites.”
