Barry eyed the device in Roy's hands, his face going pale. “Sidney has nothing to do with this!” he pleaded, tugging harder against his restraints. “You don’t have to do this, please– look, what do you want? A job? Money? I can make it happen, whatever you need, just please don’t–”
Looking Sidney right in the eyes, Roy pressed the red button.
Nothing blew up. It didn’t even make a sound. Instead, Sidney felt everything inside her body start to seize up as all of her systems went haywire at once, warnings and popups flashing in front of her eyes faster than she could make sense of them. Everything was malfunctioning – motor functions, language programs, memory banks, it was all going offline, and Sidney was helpless to do anything but watch as the popups faded away, replaced by a single message appearing in the corner of her vision:
Initiating Shutdown Sequence.
Full Factory Reset In Progress: 2% complete…(Or: A man whose life was ruined by the Barry Battalion seeks revenge on Barry by hurting the person he loves most.)

He considers it for a moment, “that’s like asking me if I believe in fate or destiny, Nod. Which, I don’t know really, it’s a big question – I guess, I think it would be nice if we were friends, no matter what world we were in.”
“I see,” Nod says.
Pete laughs, “was that the wrong thing to say?”
There is no right way to say the real words, the what I feel for you is out of your ordinary, it defies any human language or logic, for I have given a part of myself to you, and you are a part of me.
Nod smiles in a way that does not reach their eyes. “No, it was the right thing to say.”
