Summary
The only lights in the Palace of Stars were oil lamps. Carefully tended, for if yours went out you would need to find another light or fire to restore it. The Ouranatha had candles, of course, but they wouldn't share.
He had promised to visit his great-aunt, Lady Nerisse, who his favourite sister had been named after. His great-aunt was, as far as he knew, his only relative left. Certainly the only relative in the Palace, and venturing outside was decidedly unwise these days. Conju and Lady Nerisse did not like each other. But both of them had held on to the idea that family was important, and so Conju visited.

The man didn't take offence, but nodded. “The Cavalier Conju enazo Argellian an Vilius,” he said politely, “Companion to Lady Lasara of Eldizorka, over there.” He waved his hand vaguely at the pile of skirts.
